Stranger Things: Season 1 (2016) (Target Exclusive)

From my experience, Netflix shows usually get the short end of the stick when it comes to home releases, so this is quite an impressive release for Stranger Things given it isn't DVD-only and has some nice packaging. For the runtime and packaging, I'd say it is well worth the $25. My last two blu-ray purchases were Wonder Woman and Kong, both were $25.

I'm watching some episodes right now and have not noticed any banding whatsoever. Pretty much an impeccable release

Sure it could be on sale in the not-so-far future, but when you break it all down, it's a totally reasonable price, especially taking packaging into consideration.

...not to mention, you have an actual PHYSICAL COPY of the show that won't ever go away. That's worth a bit more IMHO.

Again, have you been able to compare it to the streaming versions?

The complaints over the 24.99 price is crazy. People want quality but they don't want to pay for it! They want it for 7.00 in a dump bin at WalMart.

$25 for 8 hours of a high quality show seems like a better deal than $20 for 2 hours of a high quality movie

Also true. The most important thing is probably showing support week one to show the folks at Netflix that the fanbase for the show is indeed large, and we would love for them to release more of their content on home video.

It looks identical (if not) slightly better than the Netflix streaming. When I watched it on Netflix it was from a 1080p set, I never streamed it on my 4K set. I am watching it now upscaled to 4K.

I would agree with that when it comes to bonus content on Netflix releases. Most are bare bones. But the packaging is been surprisingly good!
DD/JJ/OitNB all received nice slips(steelbooks in the UK for the Marvel shows)

I think they just got lazy and put the same fine print on both formats, hence the region 1 wording.

Hmm. So you're comparing the 1080p Netflix stream to the Blu-ray? I'm more interested in how this stacks up to the 4K Netflix stream. If this looks identical to the 1080p stream, then presumably, it looks quite a bit worse than the 4K stream (not entirely shocking, mind you, but there was always hope that this could somehow look better with less compromised bitrates).

Does anyone have any actual VHS tapes lying around they can lean this one against for size comparison? Very curious if it's taller than a VHS tape, since we know it's wider.
