Thanks to those who answered my question. My local Target had a lot of this in stock so if the price isn't ridiculous next week I'll just buy it then.

Same here. Ordered this & the Spider-man exclusive at lunch. Have seen the series, got a screener copy off ebay, which turned out to be a bootleg with the wrong aspect ratio... Will be nice to watch it properly.

Went around 1:30 PM, there were 5 copies left. I wonder if some regions got shorted, it wouldn't be the first time that happened.

Stores don't necesssrily put out all the copies - all indications are that stores received a lot of copies - it's possible they had more in the back, unless you specifically asked or checked the in-store stock.

Very small nitpick: Unfortunately, there's no chapter break after the opening credits. I would have put one right after the last credit (Created By) and before the episode name. I've rewatched this show multiple times and never skipped the opening credits, but it's a matter of principle for me. So few shows get this right. There needs to be chapter breaks at the start of the opening credits, at the end of the opening credits, and at the start of the end credits.

Part of the trouble is that people want more and more for less and less, even accounting for the change in the times. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense for a studio to put out thousands of copies of high-quality content and packaging for dirt prices like people apparently want them to do.

Stranger Things has over 6½ hours of high-quality content, and really cool packaging. It's bare-bones unless you count the poster (I don't).
Still, two out of three boxes are checked, and that ain't bad. They certainly didn't phone this release in. Thought clearly went into it.

And yet people seemingly want it all. They want hours upon hours of content...they want the cool packaging...AND they want it for $15...or, to put that into clearer perspective, for the cost of a second-tier, single title day-one Blu-ray in a standard case and no cool packaging. That might be the expectation these days, but it isn't realistic...which, as has been stated many times, is why physical media is in so much trouble to begin with.

Have times changed? Yes. Have they changed to THAT degree? No.

Normally I would agree with you 100% however, for this specific TV show I feel like it sets the ambiance and I prefer to watch it that way. Maybe NETFLIX thought the same thing (they did obviously put ALOT of thought into this).

Kind of annoying the main theme or any music for that matter doesn't play over the menu.

Oh, I totally agree about the intent and the execution is excellent - I haven't felt a desire to skip them yet after four re-watches. But the preference of the intent and the preference of those who enjoy watching them for the ambiance isn't everyone - I'm sure there will be folks who decide to skip them, and that should be accounted for when making chapter breaks.

Despite arriving an hour after opening, they didn't have any copies out on shelves when I got there. But there was a cart next to the new movie shelf which had a couple of boxes in it, and one box was open enough for me to look inside.
I went back later hoping they had put their exclusive Batman vs Two-Face out (they didn't) and they had many copies on the new-movie shelf in the movie department and cashier section.
The Target was clearing out their entire movie section so they're probably revamping the selection. Too bad, I couldn't find much else there that I wanted.

I picked up Strange Things at Walmart to top it all off.

While they did have the season sets properly stocked, my local Target was also doing a similar reorganizing of the movie section, unfortunately with it shrinking considerably. Not surprising, but disapointing.


I'll have to look for those single carded figures. I have both of the three packs, but I didn't know about the "chase" version of the demigorgon with the "flower petals" of it's face (or whatever they are) closed up. I'd like to get that.

Did they remove the region free logo on the discs which was seen on the mockup? The back also seem to say region 1, if i'm not mistaken. Can anybody here confirm if the actual release is indeed region free? Appreciate.

I noticed the same thing. Was surprised when I didn't see the region free logo on the actual discs. Would like to know if they're region free as well. I worked up Blu-ray cover art for this which I plan to make available and would like to include the proper region code on the back portion.

Just like the value of televisions today has nothing to do with the price and value of televisions 20 years ago.

Yet it's still entirely relevant to point out how fortunate we are today as opposed to then...especially if people are going to whine endlessly about how their 65" LCD TV shouldn't cost them $900 because LG just needs to get with the times and put out a 65" OLED for $200 so we could all afford one.
