Illustrating the pointless addition of this test in Cinemablends' reviews.

A big-budget 3D movie like this would usually rate as an import for me, like the new Pirates movie.

But in this case, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble...

The 2D BD will be part of a $10 sale by the end of the month, I'd expect.

As long as they have slipcovers, that'll be it for me, I think.

No one seems to have much that's good to say about this movie, but the PQ and SQ might still be worth it at a good price.

I'm going to have to roll my eyes at the notion that a slipcover takes priority over 3D. Sorry Frank I don't mean to have a go but it's just crazy to me that to some posters here, a bit of cardboard is more important than 3D disc.

In this case.....I'm sure if there's embossing on the slipcover it probably has more depth than the 3D in the movie.
If somethings worth owning I want it to be a treasured keepsake and will always prioritize a steelbook or slipcover if they're available. That's part of what makes them more collectible. It took me over a year before buying Drive Angry once I found out it originally had a slipcover. I probably wouldn't have bought it if not for the slipcover but for a so-so movie it made me appreciate it all the more.

Content over packaging any day of the week as far as I'm concerned.

It's crazy to me that anyone would think otherwise. Now the price difference makes a bit more sense to me, especially if your not sure of the film.

Yes I am after the content first and foremost not arguing that point.....but packaging will also influence where I spend my money. Steelbooks and slipcovers take priority over plain amaray cases for me. If there simply isn't any other option then I'm fine with a plain amaray. Sometimes I'll buy the non 3D steelbook and the 3D and merge them together or end up importing.

Hi rewinder,

Don't understand why others question this. You and those like you are simply COLLECTORS and have a passion for unique packaging. Can understand having multiple versions of the same title if one could afford it.

Enjoy.

Hell, I just spent way too much on eBay because I just discovered the Clone Wars feature release had a lenticular slip. While I understand why others don't care about packaging, I completely understand why some do.

I skimmed back thru this thread and found your comments on the movie.

Seems you liked the movie, but thought they didn't do much with the 3D.

Others have been less kind with this movie in general.

Would you import this movie to the UK, if the situation was reversed?

The topic of my post was in no way about slipcovers, I only mentioned that aspect in passing.

I would definitely import if the situation was reversed. Whilst I was underwhelmed with the 3D in theatres I often find the experience at home to be a lot more satisfying. Plus I really enjoyed the movie so i would want to own the 3D version of something that will be in my top ten of the year.

Also it eats away at me if I know there's a 3D version of a movie available that I only own on 2D blu lol.

I received an email as well, but my estimated delivery date is October 31 to November 4. It releases on October 23, so I'm not sure why there would be such a long delay for your order. Maybe try canceling and re-ordering?

Hey there,

Rahul is just a last resort for me, like finest hours was for example. I don’t like his price gouging.

HMV still lists 23 October as UK release date.

The German version is now only 15.84 euros total with shipping to the United States. Are we sure that it is region-free? The studio is listed as Universal Pictures Germany GmbH.

In terms of the 3D, is it rogue one (my reference level of poor) or decent?

It's never as good as the finale of that film which was very nice revisiting it (the 3d that is, the film still doesn't work for me), but overall i'd say it is a little better but never as good as that finale. But not much, if you didn't think rogue one did enough I doubt you will here either.
