I've only seen this film once, in pretty shoddy quality years back, but I found it mesmerizing. I don't remember much of it, but the mood and atmosphere has really stuck with me. It's my favourite Spaghetti Western after the Good, the Bad and The Ugly, and definitely one of my top films not yet released on blu – and long overdue!
It's one of your top films and you like it more than almost every single spaghetti western but you don't remember it besides the mood and atmosphere? That's some serious mood and atmosphere!

I've watched it a couple times, it's kind of a harrowing experience. The central romance is really touching for one of these Italian flicks and Klaus is a great villain and as everyone points out the setting is one of the best in any Western. I have the DVD which used a beaten up source but still shows how nice the cinematography was at some point. If there's a full restoration done on this I'm guessing it could be a real stunner.

I listen to the soundtrack fairly often. It's one of my favorite scores by Morricone, it's much more involved and varied than most of the ones he was rushing through during the 60s and 70s. It's right up there with Lizard in a Woman's Skin.

The alternate ending was sure a great extra.
