This one is another in a growing trend of non-standard resolution DI's. It has a 2.4k DI. From the November '17 American Cinematographer:

Why are these TROLLS keep putting 4k movies in DTS MA 7.1
![]() ![]() Most of them I won't get in 4k cause the PQ is a tad worst or even better then 4k so, what's the point. So, by them putting DTS MA 7.1 on 4k I might as well just get the Blu version and save a couple bucks ![]() ![]() |

I was planning on getting this but after reading some reviews it doesn't sound like the kind of movie I was hoping for. Too bad. I might just rent it instead.
Damn this 4K thing is turning out to be cheaper than I thought. Only Blade Runner 2049 on my to buy list now. |

I have noticed a trend of Fox not seeming to put much effort into the HDR grade on any release that isn't action or sci-fi (Keeping Up with the Joneses, Hidden Figures, Why Him?), resulting in a dim, muted image that I often have to use a little Dynamic Contrast to push into acceptable vibrancy. As I have mentioned before, I HATE doing this, so I'm always annoyed by it. This is one of those titles.
That said, this is a good-looking disc. Though indoor scenes tend to look rather flat and thin, thankfully there is a heaping helping of handsome outdoor photography propelling this movie, and it looks wonderful. I was impressed by how much this transfer excelled in fine detail levels, and they are most apparent when you can see all the nooks and crannies popping out of a cliff-side on a snow-covered mountain. Neither the movie nor the PQ is anything to write home about, I would say, but the transfer definitely looks very good for those interested. Personally, I can't get enough snowy exteriors in UHD, so I was pleased. |

As for this movie, was pretty unimpressed by the visuals theatrically, but suspect that was the projector I saw it on (AMC in general seems to be using older equipment than Regal and some of the smaller chains) as it seemed softer looking than in the trailers. |
