Bought a projector (BenQ HT2050), so I can now finally watch the 3D Blu-rays I've been buying!

So far this week I've watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (UK import), Rogue One (Best Buy Steelbook) and Wonder Woman.

Of the three, Wonder Woman seemed the best to me for 3D, though its ending wasn't great, while Rogue One was pretty poor but had a worthwhile ending.

More watching to come

Wonder woman better than Guardians 2 for 3D? Am I reading that right? The 3D in Guardians was way better imo.

Yeah, although Guardians 2 was the first one I watched, and Wonder Woman was the most recent, last night - so Guardians 2 may just be less fresh in my mind, and having Rogue One in between them probably made WW stand out more. WW had a lot of medium shots as well as crowd shots that really stood out to me.

That's fair enough mate, we all see 3D differently . I think Guardians does more with the 3D but I was pleased with the 3D in WW. I just wish they'd pushed it a bit more.

Im just happy that any movie does 3D . Even if its not crazy outstanding I find it add a little something extra that watching a 2d movie doesnt.

Though Baywatch in 4K looks amazing, but imagine C.J dancing in 3D.....

I'd agree with that.

My latest arrival and next up to watch is The Mummy which I'm sure will look better to me in 3D than it did in 2D though I also expect that I'll end up wishing that they'd pushed it a bit more.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this one. I'm mulling an import, but the bad reviews for the film itself and the lackluster response to the 3D has put me off.

I have the movie in 4K, and I really enjoyed it. It was fun, and i think his character in this was good. Not the charming loveable guy he usually plays. He seems like a regular person in this movie in regard to his attitude.

It has similarities to the Brendan Frasier movie but it is made to be unique. I really enjoyed it, and really loved how it ended.

I also enjoyed Russel Crowe's role , I enjoyed the girl who played the mummy, and the blonde in this movie was at least great to watch.

I dont know what people were wanting, but it was a fun , well shot, different take on the mummy. I definitely want to find a 3D copy.

Nice haul from the mail person yesterday and today:

Frankeenweenie

Spiderman Homecoming
Sword Master
War for the Planet of the Apes

Also got - remember 2D? - Batman versus Two Face cartoon with Adam West again reprising his voice as the caped crusader before we lost him.

Hm. Is it better than it was in the theater? Because this fell completely flat for me in the theater - both the 3D and partly as a result of that, the film itself. Maybe the theater 3D was off. Should I give it a second chance?

Most 3D theaters suck. A quality 3D IMAX theater is best.

But GitS BR 3D on a quality 3D TV or 3D front projector is definitely one of the best.

Idk what tv, player you have but on my e6 oled and oppo 203 it looked great and had good depth with people sticking out of the screen some. This and king arthur looked good to me.

Ghost in the Shell was one of THREE showing I attended this year where the the 2D was shown due to either projectionist error or technical problems. Of the three incidents only ONCE did anyone at the theater bother to tell patrons who had already paid additional money for 3D. I would recommend watching it again for sure. I always prefer 3D at home to the 3D at a cinema unless it is shown in IMAX 3D.

At Cinemark, the manager the staff and manager argued with me for 20 minutes trying to convince me that I was mistaken and nothing was wrong. I even showed them that the picture was completely clear with or without glasses. When the manager finally put forth enough effort to go upstairs and ask the projectionist she FINALLY realized “the projectionist accidentally loaded the 2D print”?!? She still didn’t bother to make an announcement to patrons in the theater so I did. I had seen everyone taking off and putting on their glasses in confusion. For the first 30 minutes of the movie I simply thought the 3D sucked and every person in that theater would have spread by word of mouth how crappy the 3D was in Ghost in the Shell.

This also happened with War for the Planet of the apes which I finally got to watch in 3D last night. I had not heard great things about the 3D but I LOVED it. It’s not the strongest 3D in the world but there were multiple layers throughout and a great sense of depth and it GREATLY added to my enjoyment of the movie.

The third movie was GeoStorm which really rubbed me wrong because that is a movie I would only watch for the 3D. It had no other redeeming value. They comped our food, gave us 6 rain tickets and three $10 vouchers so I left satisfied but now I’ll have to hope for a 3D Blu-ray-ray release because I won’t sit through that film again at the cinema.

Watched Passengers 2016 and really enjoyed the movie. Something about isolation films really pulls me in, even if there are plot holes galore, like the ones in Passengers. Many reviewers on youtube think the movie should have been sequenced differently, but I and my wife liked it as is.

3D looked okay in parts, and great in a few specific shots. Space shots just did nothing for me.
Wife fell asleep, so we re-watched the second half yesterday. This time 3D looked great throughout and made a BIG difference in the immersion feeling. I wouldn't mind sticking JLaw on a ship for 88 years

I too watched this 3D flick on Blu as my last one. It has its 3D effect moments.
But overall I found nothing much of real value..film and 3D picture.
I like most the emotional interactions between the bad ape, the little girl, the general, Caesar and gang, the general's soldiers, the character development and romance between them all. It is a perfect TV sci-fi opera soap drama, with tears in their eyes and mothballs in their hearts.
