No, you never have! No one rational would have that avatar.

And as for blind buying....

The Criterion Zatoichi Collection... best blind buy I ever made, and I'm not kidding.

Looking to beef up my Fellini titles. Haven't seen Fellini Satyricon, Roma and La dolce vita. Which of the three do you recommend? Will likely pick up two of them today.

Would love to see Criterion tackle Dogville, which remains my favorite Von Trier.

Needed another movie to get free shipping with Le Samurai. Decided to blind buy Lady Snowblood. Watched the preview for it on Criterion’s website and looks super awesome. Excited to watch it.

LDV by a country mile, then Roma, then Satyricon. But they're all great.

The first Lady Snowblood is awesome. The second one isn't all that great in my mind, too political. You will see how Kill Bill took influence from Lady Snowblood. You can't go wrong with that set on the strength of the first film.

Definitely La Dolce Vita for sure, especially if you haven't seen the other which are pretty bad blind buys.

How about Carnival of Souls as a blind buy? Am I going to want to watch it more than once?

Kill Bill is my favorite Tarantino movie(s) and this being it’s main influence is the reason I picked this over my other blind buy contenders.

Depends on if you like slow burn psychological horror filmed in black and white. If so, then yes. Despite it being low budget, it's very well done and I find it extremely menacing and eerie. It's a true gem.

Just picked up some Hitchcock movies at the Barnes and Noble sale. Question: since Rebecca was just released, what would everyone say the odds are that we might see releases of Spellbound and Notorious?

Would like to know before I consider investing in out of print blu-rays.

"La Dolce Vita" is an incredible film. I love "Satyricon" as well. It's a very weird film, but fantastic. "Roma" is great, but definitely third among the three you mentioned for me.

Speaking of Lars von Trier and his carnival of cheerfulness and contentment, does anyone have any knowledge as to whether the German or Japanese release of Dancer in the Dark is better? Are they the same? I'm irritated that I don't own it so I've been thinking about importing, but neither is reviewed here.

TIA

"Breaking the Waves" is way, way more depressing than "Revanche" IMO.

Interesting. I don't get depressed by many films. "Breaking the Waves", "Requiem for a Dream", and "Under the Volcano" are three, off the top of my head, that I found pretty depressing.

The odds are very high. I’m 99.9% sure Criterion are releasing those other two Hitchcock titles.
