Default Life Cycle of an Amazon UK Order

Here's the timeline of an order I placed on .UK on Oct 17 for Despicable Me 3D and Agent Carter S2.

Shipping option was AmazonGlobal Standard, the cheapest option.

I pieced this together from the Amazon tracking, the i-Parcel tracking, and finally the Canada Post tracking number. Date formatting is different for each shipper.

Amazon expected delivery is Thursday, Nov 2, but judging by the CP tracking, looks more like Oct 30/31 to me...

Order Summary
Item(s) Subtotal: £16.33
Postage & Packing: £4.13
Total Before VAT: £20.46
VAT: £0.00
Total: £20.46
Import Fees Deposit £1.43
Grand Total: £21.89

Wednesday, 18 Oct (Amazon Tracking)
08:33 Parcel has been handed over to the carrier and is in transit
08:59 Problem resolved and parcel is in transit
18:31 Parcel left the carrier facility, Dunstable, Central Bedfordshire, GB

Wed. 18 Oct, (i-Parcel Tracking)
21:59 Received at i-Parcel, Feltham, GB

Fri. 20 Oct,
13:55 Exported i-Parcel and in transit to country of destination

Sunday, 22 Oct
10:38 Initiated customs clearance process, Carrier: i-parcel, Tracking #: AEIxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sun. 22 Oct,
17:38 Arrived at destination and will be entered into the delivery stream after successful clearance. (Upon successful customs clearance, your parcel will be given to Canada Post who we use for local delivery to your address. Their tracking number is 400xxxxxxxxxxxxx, you can link to it here.)

Tue. 24 Oct,
19:52 Entered into local delivery system
2017/10/24 (Canada Post) 19:52 MISSISSAUGA, ON Shipment picked up by Canada Post

Wed. 25 Oct,
00:46 Entered into local delivery system
2017/10/25 00:46 MISSISSAUGA, ON Item processed

Wed. 25 Oct,
03:26 Processed through transit hub
2017/10/25 03:26 MISSISSAUGA, ON In transit

Thu. 26 Oct,
21:50 Processed at transit hub
2017/10/26 21:50 HALIFAX, NS Item processed

Fri. 27 Oct,
00:03 Processed through transit hub
2017/10/27 00:03 HALIFAX, NS In transit

The entry "Problem resolved and parcel is in transit" on the 18th is interesting...

^ Yeah, all of my i-parcel shipments have had lots of "problematical" tracking info entries (seemed to all be at the UK end) and all arrived safely and very quickly. System issue, rather than a real issue, I'd say.

From doing a bit more digging into these delays as of late, found this from the Royal Mail website, with regards to parcel delays coming into Canada. (Although it was posted around October 9th, I think these delays were happening way before then.)

https://personal.help.royalmail.com/...cidents-update

Start date: 9 October 2017
End date: Ongoing

"We've been seeing delays of our untracked mail worsening into Canada as a result of increasing volumes as we approach Christmas. Customers should expect delays of approximately 10 working days for untracked items, 5 working days for Tracked with signature items and 1 working day for Tracked items.

While priority is being given to parcel products, there is still an extra 1-2 working days delay. Canada Post and Customs are working together to provide additional resourcing and looking at ways in which to ease the congestion.

We recommend where possible, customers use our Tracked service for the fastest and most reliable postal service."

Couldn't find anything on Canada Post side, talking about delays on the international side of things, but hopefully with customs and such, things may hopefully start getting through the system soon, least one can hope.

that's because the delays are being done by canada post/customs on purpose. and paying for tracking wouldn't make it go any faster and the tracking is totally pointless now unless u pay for e.m.s shipments or e packet. canada post blocked off all tracking for slower shipping services 2 years ago. until sept u could use this Russian tracking site to pull the tracking that canada post was hiding from us. once canada post caught wind of this the did maintenance on there web site and bam it totally blocked the Russian site from being able to get the tracking from canada post.

there only hiding the tracking so they can purposely delay overseas packages. either to stop u from wanting to buy stuff overseas because it takes so long to get here now or so ur force to pay for high teir shipping services so stuff dont get delayed and u can see the tracking.

Not trying to be argumentative, but I can't honestly say I've seen anything that points to delays at the CP/Customs end. At least in the GTA. I haven't experienced delays at all. And that i-parcel uses CP at this end and they were very fast.

But if you look at my last few posts (I don't really expect anyone to...) I've put a finger on Royal Mail a few times I think. I can *definitely* point at them. And amazon for their system changes too.

that's because its only post office to post offices shipments that are affected. its not just royal mail i've had delays with packages coming from Russia Poland Spain Australia Indonesia. i'm not the only one there's a massive post over 500 pages long on redflagdeals of people having issues.

on top of that canada post blocked the ability to track shipments sent by registered mail because they can and then they can delay them as much as they want without any way for u to prove it.

Why would CP intentionally delay packages? Is it CP's way of trying to get more employees/resources...something like that? I mean, with so many other options out there, if anything they'd want to be faster, or cheaper, etc. Tracking costs extra, so if you can't really track, who would pay extra for it?

Just wondering. I haven't actually ordered anything from another country lately (besides UK) except China/Hong Kong, and that's always slow, so hard to tell if it's slower than usual...

I'm not sure where to post this, but thought to mention.

A Canadian store that I use online has had this noted on their main page for the last few weeks...

Quote:
Due to increased online shopping, Canada Post will not be honoring any service guarantees between November 20 2017 - January 5 2018. Because of this we are unable to file late claims. If your order is time sensitive, we recommend you choose other shipping options to ensure your order is received by the date you require. Thank you.

I'm sure we don't have to worry for amazon products, but I do hope it won't affect any across-the-border orders to be delivered by CP.

Here is the site from info - https://www.blankmedia.ca/

edit: I meant to add this to original post.

"Choose other shipping options?" So they want us to use the competition? UPS? DHL? Puro? Maybe some execs at CP invested in other courier companies then orchestrated this? Insider trading much?

So if we are ordering from say amz. uk and they use UPS we shouldn't be worried? Maybe it's a good thing.

On a side note, a couple years ago I ordered a Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Steelbook from AMZ Japan. I think it was on dec 26 or 27th. They used DHL and I had it in 3 days. Shipping was around $10. So why does Canada post charge $15 for a regular small box from Alberta to Ontario?

Because they have to improve on the $114 million in profit they made last year.

they do it so u have to pay for a high teir shipping service like ems witch in turn makes them more money.

they did this last year to but canada post fail to advertise it anywhere. they claim they sent out emails to venture one customs of witch i am one but i never got no email and there was nothing on canada post website even there front line c/s agent had no clue about it. it wasn't until i complained to the v.p office that i was told of the change. they refused to honor the on-time guarantee even though they kept falsely advertising it everywhere.

before last year u were able to make claims for late delivery i use to get alot of free shipping around nov-dec because there was always a day or 2 delay.

I ordered two Blurays from AMZ.co.uk September 26 to a Flex Delivery box, estimated to arrive October 16 via Royal Mail.

Still nothing.

Is this Par for the course from those of you that have ordered from Amazon UK before?

I rarely keep track of my Amazon.co.uk deliveries but I feel it usually takes about two weeks, tops, to get here. Although we've heard about them using different shipping companies this year. Maybe that's your culprit?

amazon isn't the issue its canada post/customs they are delaying all overseas packages with china ones being the worst but over the summer other countries are getting delayed now to.there's a huge post about it over on redflagdeals id post a link but not sure if i'm aloud to link to another forum.

i've had packages take upwards of 3 months to show. some others have said some showed up as much as 5-6 months after that orders and long gotten refunds from sellers.

here is my review of how things went with my order from base.com.

they shipped the item out within 2 working days after i placed the order even though there site sounded like the item was back ordered. they shipped it by royal mail. item came rather fast considering all the shipping delays there's been lately it showed up today. they shipped it in a cardboard envelope. item came with no damage.

there was no forced pre charging of import fees. the shipping charge was only 1.69 gbp vs 3.08 on amazon. they also removed vat in the check out same as how amazon does. zavvi dont do this i've bought it up to there c/s twice and the claim they dont charge vat but there own sites faq says its worked into the item price but they claim its not...

so i can def recommend base.com they seem great. they sell blurays dvds video games and music.

def worth checking out base.com before placing your order on amazon might save some cash.
