Default Paramount: any chance of a double bill of Chinatown & The Two Jakes?

Sony have recently announced a very welcome BD release of 'Capote' with 'In Cold Blood' in a double bill. This is enterprising marketing (quite a change for Sony!) and I'm wondering whether Paramount could follow their example with a double bill of 'Chinatown' and 'The Two Jakes'. I know they are working on 'Chinatown' for BD release in 2009, and it would be a nice touch to include its very underrated sequel in the same box, otherwise I fear we may have to wait a long time for its appearance on BD.

Yuck no double bills!

That Capote/ In Cold Blood case is a wreck!(Granted it is better than THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL from FOX)

I'd rather get sep. releases the price diff wouldn't be that much at all.

I'm not a fan of double bills either. The cover art always suffers for it.

But a two pack would be great.

Chinatown is one of the greatest movies ever by one of the greatest directors--Polanski.

Two Jakes is a cheap attempt to follow up. It doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence.

I think 'The Two Jakes' is a grievously underrated film. It might not be a masterpiece like 'Chinatown' but IMHO it doesn't deserve the flak it's attracted over the years. If you don't know it, it's certainly worth a rental at least.

It's a "companion piece" rather than a sequel, since almost every memorable plot point involves Nicholson going back over his old first-movie territory ten years later...
2J wouldn't SURVIVE as an independent release on its own, which's why a double bill doesn't sound like a bad idea if it were ever possible--Like "2010", it's the only way you could ever salvage a little respect for the darn thing.

(At least it's not like the "Now we have BD-50's!" double-feature disks of Paramount's old previously-released BD-25 titles they'll soon be hitting us with as we speak...)

I love the double releases when each has their separate artwork and case. Anyways, it will be great to see Chinatown and The Two Jakes in Blu.

I would absolutely LOVE Chinatown, but not really that bothered about Two Jakes. Sure, it's good, but I'm happy with the DVD of that as I rarely ever watch it. However, I watch Chinatown quite alot and would love the upgrade. I watched it on SkyMoviesHD the other day and it looks very good in HD.

Paramount were rumoured about a year ago to be preparing Chinatown for BD release (and Apocalypse Now was also mentioned), but nothing more has been heard since. I hope they haven't abandoned their plans. Generally the studios seem to be cutting way back on releasing calatogue titles on Blu, which is quite depressing. I hope things will pick up later this year as we hopefully come out of recession.

This would be awesome. Although I expect Sony to release Chinatown and not the Two jakes. I'm still waiting on Ghostbusters 2 and MIB 2. Sony must not like selling sequels.

Also Apocalypse now..extended version would be sweet as well.

Chinatown and The Two Jakes are owned by Paramount, so I don't understand what Sony has to do with this.

It would be nice, but for right now i wouldn't hold my breath.
I would love for Sony to release The Last Detail as that is one of my favorite Nicholson films.
