1. Most manufacturers have different levels in their line-ups (ie: good, better, best).

2. Theater and music tend to be different in my book.

That being said, from top to bottom for pure music speakers I go

1. VSA (that's why I bought them)
2. Sonus Faber
3. Revel
4. Vandersteen
5. Salk

Pure theater

1. JBL Synthesis
2. M&K (discontinued )
3. Triad
4. Krell
5. rest

Edit: of course these are all speakers I have had a lot of listening experience with. (among many others)

They are not in any particular order. I love them all.

I own a pair of each in my home theater room.

Let me know if you are interested in buying a pair. Most of these prices are list prices. I can get you a good discount.

Actually I don't mind speakers from Wilson Audio, but I couldn't find an exact price.

In all fairness, I can ONLY do the one's for speakers I've PERSONALLY listened to, or else it becomes subjective simply based off other's opinions and whatnot.

Martin Logan (ESL series)
B&W (600 series)
Paradigm (Monitor series)
PSB (Image series)
KEF (IQ line)
DefTech (towers)
Polk (RTiA line)
Klipsch (Reference)
Mirage (OmniSat)

(don't take offense, I know some of you around here get personally offended about your speaker selections, please)

Forget about DynAudio. Buy these Italian beauties, Bolzano Villetri's Piazzetta for $8,000. The list price is $10,000. EVEN THE NAME IS SEXIER.

or

you can get the Bolzano Villetri's Duomo for $5,000. The list price is $6,000.

Neither could I, but I got one anyway. It's definitely what the doctor ordered.

I'd get two or three more if I could, not that I'd need them.

I have a pair of Fathom f112s and they are absolutely all the reviewers say. Check out AVguide.com for the review.

They match my Quad ESL-63s perfectly - they add such a great foundation to the music, but do not forget the room acoustics as the first thing to get right.

If you want some of the best sounds out there, check out the latest version of the ESL-63 in the form of the Quad ESL-2905 - on my long term wish list (hard to locate in Taiwan).

I have had my Quads as main speakers for the last 26+ years. I have been completely satisfied with them over this long period. I had them matched to a pair of Gradient SW-63s, but that combination is beaten hands down now I have replaced them with the f112s.

I can get you the Kharma speakers for less than $200,000. Since you were looking for a pair of towers for your rear speakers, I suggest that you buy a pair of Kharma's for your front and move your Boston Acoustic speakers to the rear.
