Have you checked the Windows firewall settings for incoming connections on the iTunes server? That's usually the reason if the ATV doesn't find your library reliably. Both iTunes and Bonjour must be allowed to accept incoming connections.

Bonjour does not come with iTunes 12.7. Actually my Apple TV see's my PC on the network and the library on my hard drive as well but when I go load a movie it either sometimes continuously shows the loading circle and won't stop loading or gives me an error message after I click on play about unable to find content or something like that. Either a restart of home sharing on my Apple TV or exiting and restarting iTunes on my PC temporarily gets it working again. A server should be transparent to the user in the background and only be used directly for maintenance and updates or if you want to manually turn it off or on.

I’m not stressed, my concerns are for long term and the future health of movies. I happen to believe Digital won’t be a good thing long term. |

Yes it does (I'm assuming you are talking about the Windows version, on the Mac Bonjour is part of the OS). You need to allow incoming connections for "Bonjour Service" as well as iTunes in the Windows firewall. Also make sure that you set the rules for the right profile (Public/Private).

iTunes homesharing works perfectly fine on my Windows 10 PC and ATV4K. Try disabling IPv6 on your pc. If you finally decide to go back to physical media, be prepared to have several movies including new releases that can't play or have issues with 4k blu-ray players. I had this happen when I tried out several 4k blu-ray players this year: Sony X800 - freezing, audio dropouts, unable to read disc, streaming apps crashing Oppo UDP-203 - audio dropouts, unable to read disc Panasonic DMP-UB900 - AV lip-sync issue Samsung k8500 and m8500 - handshake issue, loud disc drive noise Xbox One S - video stuttering, color decoding issues, and loud disc drive noise. Also if you decide to still go back to physical media, be prepared to pay at least $25 to $100 on unopened 4k movies due to the studios printing out a limited number of discs, but once in while you can buy an unopened 4k movie for about $15. If you buy a new disc and watched it, and try to sell it on eBay you'll get about $5 to $10 back after paying fees from eBay, postage, and PayPal. If you sell the movies to a store that buys and sells used movies, they might offer you about .50 cents to $2.00 or they may not accept the movie. Most movie studios know that physical media is dying at a rapid pace. Most retailers are shrinking their physical media section on weekly basis. Digital media is growing at a rapid pace. I wouldn't be surprised that most A/V manufacturers discontinue making 4k bluray players next year and start making pure 4k a/v streaming devices next year. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Blu-ray is dying that rapidly that it’s actually up sales wise year over year. ![]() Digital is growing rapidly but that’s subscription like Netflix and Amazon NOT Digital HD Sellthrough. Last I checked Digital HD was single figures growth. Something like 9%. In the UK it’s even lower at 4%. Trust me, that’s not figures that are going to reassure the studios. Finally, UHD Blu-ray is off to a very good start. If you think they are going to disappear by next year you are delusional. Basically you entire post is bullshit imo. You do realise Blu-ray and DVD makes up a huge chunk of home video sales for this year right? Of course you don’t, you are still pretending that your make believe disc players aren’t working. |

I just got my new Oppo 203 yesterday and my first 4K UHD disc arrives today. I am exploring a new frontier in physical media. 4K on disc is the only way I can even hope to watch 4K content here in the hinterlands.
4K UHD discs are the 6th physical format for me since I began collecting nearly 25 years ago. Every one of these formats still exist within my collection and are still playable. The necessary hardware still works. I am delighted with my physical library and I am looking forward to this new 4K UHD format. |

I started my 4K UHD collection with The Revenant, but I will add all of those titles you mentioned later. I am really looking forward to seeing Dunkirk on UHD. I have read on this site that Blade Runner 1982 has audio issues (low levels on dialog) except for the Atmos track, so that is a small concern as I am not Atmos capable yet.

It will probably be a good few years before I upgrade the 65 inch plasma (that I paid A LOT for just a few years ago) in my main living room, but I am planning on getting a spare bedroom that has essentially been a storage space set up as a gaming room within the next year. I'll probably get a new 4K TV for that room. Nothing super high-end, but hopefully decent quality while staying under $1,000. I'll probably go ahead and get a 4K player to go with it. ![]() |

![]() I have a different cabinet which is going to be devoted to 4K discs. Blu-ray will still have its pride of place as well. I still have my Panny plasma from years back. They are more than capable sets with great black levels as you will know. |
