Plus, we see this happening simply all over the entire OT, too -- it's a consistent visual-motif throughout the whole saga.

Somehow it only bothers me in ROTS. It drags the movie down drastically imo.

Yep. It sets up the environment.

Rogue One also did this. It's a "Star Wars" thing. And it's eye candy.

Just think of it this way, the time used to show ships taking off and landing in the Prequels could have been used to show characters talking instead.

I still think ROTS moves like a sum***** plotwise; it's in AOTC that I really find myself tapping my watch and pondering why exactly we need to see all these damned ships taking off and landing.

I mean, I like such scenes in theory (they do add to the Star Wars feel, as has been noted) but -- to be frank -- in AOTC, who gives a shit where people are going?

Time to fly to Coruscant, time to fly to Naboo, time to fly to Tatooine -- no wonder it's the longest Star Wars movie.

And for what? Ugh.

Sorry. I'm still bitter about the dumpster fire that is episode 2, clearly. A really amateurish piece of work from top to bottom.

Yes, and by updating it that means removing it.

Horrible movie but it did have the only thing from the prequels I care to remember:

I know I've said this before, but I've always held the EXTREME minority opinion that AOTC is the best of the prequels. If I only watched one prequel, that'd be the one. It shows me everything I ever wanted to see as a kid, when I wold wonder about the events before STAR WARS: Anakin and Obi-Wan being pals and having adventures together, Palpatine's insidious (pun intended) rise to power, the beginning of the Clone Wars (with by far the best action set-piece of the whole prequel trilogy, IMHO), and a friggin' army of Jedi fighting side-by-side with lightsabers. Literally the only thing missing from my childhood wish-list is the famous "lava pit" duel between Obi and Annie.... but that turned out kinda boring in SITH. I dunno... for all the PAINful moments in AOTC, I still dig it.

If the movie had basically been that last couple of reels stretched out over two hours then man, it'd be amazing. Love seeing the Jedi go to war. But as it is, it's a car crash of a movie.

It's pretty much the bestest looking Blu-ray in that entire saga set, it's really nice.

While I don’t think it’s the best of the prequels I believe it’s better than Revenge of the Sith.

Yoda being a bad ass at the end of AOTC is awesome. The entire theater erupted when he pulled out his lightsaber and leaped at Dooku. Still too little too late to make up for what came before.

You really wanted more characters in the prequels talking?

Hardly. AOTC is easily the worst Star Wars film to date excluding the Holiday Special. It has some of the worst dialogue in film history. The only thing that makes it mediocre is the battle/lightsabter duels at the end of the film.

ROTS is easily the best of the prequels, but compared to the other five films released to date it is crap.

If I had to watch a prequel this very minute I would choose The Phantom Menace. I liked Liam Neeson in it and the pod race. Other than the Yoda lighsaber scene in Clones I can't find anything redeeming about the last two.

What about the dialogue in The Room, Batman & Robin, The Last Airbender, Battlefield Earth, Twilight, or Fifty Shades of Grey?

Phantom Menace gets my vote for best/personal favorite prequel. Clones has its well-documented flaws (though I do still like it overall, mainly for the final act), and Sith's second half is great but a lot of it has not aged very well.
