I googled the local B&N sale and decided to swing by and see what looks good. Was hoping to find Persona, since it ranked on the latest and greatest Blu-Ray.com community poll. It wasn't there. But I was floored by the store's selection. I wound up combing through and picking up one title after another. Next thing you know...

Came out to about $300 worth of films. So happy to find so many I wanted, and many more blind buys to explore. And yet, buying this many while I'm still homeless makes me feel so naughty.

A multi disc box-set of his work would be bad freakin' ass. It's been way too long since the last experimental short film set was released by CC.

Also, how is Maya Deren not on bluray yet?
I feel terrible because I've had the chance to see Jordan show his films MULTIPLE times in the past year, and I've not been able to make a single one. He's got another coming up Sunday not too far from me, but I've got a friend in town and we already have plans for that day.

Desperately hoping Criterion will release The Passion of Anna and The Touch on standalone Blu-ray editions.

For any region free folks out there, StudioCanal's 4K-restored release is down to £6.38 on Amazon UK. With shipping it's around $11 USD shipped.

Classic performance from Bruce Willis's
[Show spoiler]penis.
Did you ever read Bruce Willis's interview where he talks about this? I forget if it was AICN or a Reddit AMA, it was around the time that "Perfect Stranger" came out, and he was willing to not only bad-mouth it specifically but also go back and discuss some of his negative experiences over the years. I'll try to find the link, but from what I remember, he basically said that it wasn't supposed to be in the movie, he trusted the director to not include it, and was annoyed when the movie was released that way.

EDIT: It was an AICN "talkback" so, unfortunately, it's not one place. I'm not sure how much effort I want to put into finding whichever specific comment he made that has it, and I can't find a one-page summary of everything he said.

If I remember correctly, and it's been a while since I've seen the film, but didn't Willis' dong make an appearance while he and Jane March are underwater? That is the nightmare for any guy. Your dong makes an appearance, unbeknownst to you, in a major motion picture while shrinkage is in full effect.

And, for the record, this discussion of Bruce Willis' penis can be sourced back to one Ray Jackson.

It's been a long time since I saw the movie, but I don't remember shrinkage being an issue. Either the water was heated or the action of the scene helped to compensate.

Haha interesting. I'm drawing a blank on the proportions of Willis' johnson, but if that's the case, the water must have been heated.

And that brings us further down the rabbit hole. If the water was heated, then Richard Rush was clearly prepared for the dong shot. Did Rush have the dong shot schemed in his own mind to include without Willis' permission or did Willis agree to the dong shot and then regret it afterwards, thus the claim that he didn't know it would be included? True food for thought.

The way he tells it, he agreed to be naked in the pool with the understanding that it wouldn't be in the film, but he also didn't seem to care it was in the movie. As I remember it, there was a stealth marketing campaign built around it (like, it wasn't in the traler, but it was all over Entertainment Tonight and those sorts of shows). My assumption is that the studio paid him extra to smooth it over. I remember all this because, at the time, I thought it was funny that they were making a big deal, since you could see his penis in "Pulp Fiction" anyway.

Thanks! Dumb me assumed if nothing came up with a "Meshes" search, it isn't on blu. I'll no doubt be getting this soon then

Lol this page is hilarious, thank you all. Only seen that film once, but I'm pretty sure all I was looking at the entire time was Jane March.

Anyway, watched Stalker this week. Was initially hesitant because of the runtime, but it didn't seem nearly that long when watching it. Amazing film in every regard, like life-changing really, I'll never forget it. So much tension with seemingly so little, truly haunting at times. Probably the most philosophical film I've ever seen, and really changes my view on film as an art. It's really too much to take in after one viewing, and just when you think you're mind is blown the ending blows it up again. Astounding.

Actually enjoyed the last few newer CC blu-rays I've seen; The Lure surpassed my expectations also. Fun, erotic, mysterious; wasn't perfect and I'm not a fan of the
[Show spoiler] "singing dialogue out of tune" type musical, but there wasn't a whole lot of that thankfully
. Will rewatch again someday.

This is why I keep Netflix disc service - they actually get most of the new Criterion blu-rays that come out.

Desperate for The Touch? It isn't a very well liked film, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Re: Repulsion. Is there a new master out for this film yet? If so, I might continue to hold off buying the Criterion.

I recently picked up Belle De Jour because the 4K transfer ended up being a bust.
