Default Rock Band 2 DLC Question

Hey out there, quick questions for you guys. I looked at the DLC for Rock Band and I have a couple questions. First, I only have rock band 2, and only see the dlc as "rock band", im assuming this will work for rock band 2 and rock band? Also, there is a dlc for some kind of some exporter and i really dont understand what it is used for. Its like 5 bucks, anyone explain this to me. It says like you can export songs from previous Rock Band games or something but at the same time says you still need the original disk? Im a little confused with this and wasnt sure if it was something i should download or not...

The exporter is cool because you can rent the first Rock Band, then buy export all of its songs to your hard drive, and play them in Rock Band 2. As far as I know, at least on the Xbox side, all DLC is compatible with both RB and RB2.

Hmmnn, so if i buy that $5 export tool, i can download all the songs from Rock Band 1? Why does it mention you need the original disk to play those songs after export then?

You need the disc for the export tool.

All Rock Band 1 DLC will carry over to Rock Band 2 without a problem (it's that file you noticed, called Rock Band, in the game data folder).

The export tool (the $5 thing) will copy the Rock Band 1 songs onto your HDD, and store them in that Rock Band file. To do this, you need to load up Rock Band 1 (hence, you need the disc) and somewhere on the menu is an Export Songs option, which only shows up once you buy/install the export tool.

I'm not sure where/if it says you need the disc to continue playing the songs. If it does, it's only doing that to try to trick people into not selling their copy of RB on eBay for $5 (or whatever the going rate is). Once you export the songs, you'll never need the RB1 disc again (unless you want to play Enter Sandman, or Run to the Hills, or Paranoid).

I think what they meant is that you need the original disc to export the songs, so that people who only have RB2 don't think they can just pay $5 and get all the RB1 songs.

do u need to have beaten the 1st rb to have them exported or could you just export all of them if you have a disk? I'm getting a new hard drive and i was also wondering about the export key.

No need to. The export code will copy all the songs over from the disc, regardless of whether you unlocked them or not.

No, you can't export from the PS2 version. It doesn't have the right data.

You need a PS3 copy of Rock Band 1. You don't need to unlock anything, just need the disk.

Step 1: Get the RB1 disc (rent/buy/borrow/whatever as long as you aren't stealing it )
Step 2: Purchase the Rock Band Export Key from the PlayStation Store
Step 3: Put the RB1 disc into your PS3 and start it up
Step 4: UPDATE Rock Band 1 to version 1.06
Step 5: Go to Options -> Export Songs from the Rock Band 1 menu

This will put 55 out of 58 songs onto your PS3 hard drive. They'll appear in your Rock Band 2 song setlist with a "1" as their icon (just as the RB2 on-disc songs have a "2"). All the tracks will export EXCEPT for Enter Sandman by Metallica, and the covers for Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden and Paranoid by Black Sabbath. If you're in Europe, all the additional Europe Rock Band 1 bonus tracks will export (Hysteria by Muse, etc.) EXCEPT for Monsoon by Tokio Hotel.

Only Track Pack 2 is available on PS3. I believe it comes with a code printed on the manual that lets you download the entire pack as DLC for Rock Band 2 (similar to how the 20 free DLC code that comes on the game manual works).

Ditto for AC/DC Live Track Pack.
