Just watched monkey king 2.

Enjoyed the first one but this sequel was great and the 3D near reference grade.

Just found an import all region copy of the 2004 Peter Pan at Amazon. Have the movie on DVD and review said 3D was good.

I know these are 4K not 3D but this is my go to section of the forum.
Here are my pickups from this afternoon.

So I'm watching Underworld: Blood Wars last night and it kind of struck me that, for a vampire/werewolf feud, they spend an awful lot of time shooting each other with machine guns. Despite the lukewarm reception, there are a few good 3d shots in the movie but I don't recall anything coming out the front of the screen. Overall, I give the 3d 2.25 out of 5. The movie is a bit of a snooze, but it may be our final look at Kate in skin-tight leather.

After some of the 3D game talk here earlier, I was reading that Crysis 2 had really good 3D.

Picked up a used copy at GameStop for $3. Eager to check it out.

Also wondering if the PS4 WipeOut collection has the version of WipeOut HD with 3D support.

Update: Crysis 2 3D is very good. No jaggies in sight.

Cars 3 and Valerian both have 3D releases in the UK, and the latter also has a 4K/3D combo pack steelbook.

I know. I ordered a card 3D from the UK but I haven't for valerian yet because we don't know if the 3D disk will be region free.

Damn, are you talking about the PS3 game call just Tomb Raider?

I think I traded that version in when the PS4 version came out...

Update: PS3 version does not support 3D sadly. Must've been PC only.

Ya that one. I played it on PC in 3D same with Crysis 2.

There are quite a few games that are in 3D.

Finally watch Stalingrad. I've had the movie for months. I don't really recommend it but the 3d wasn't too bad. Some pop-out of the debris variety and a couple of weak gun barrel shots. I found the dialog and narration to be pretty bad and the story uninteresting. Picture looks nice but the sets are very limited.

We just watched "comin' at ya" and to be honest, when objects really came at you one wound up seeing double accomplished by eye strain. Lowering the depth settings reduced the strain a bit but still did not reduce the double vision on those strong pop outs. When the focus was on 3D without the obvious gimmicks, the depth was quite natural and pleasing. But when a rifle started coming into one's face, a single barrel literally became a double barrel shotgun.

Good use of black and white mixed in with color. A movie enjoyed in 3D but I think would have lost interest quickly if pancake. Doubt if I'll watch it again but not disappointed having it, being I'm a collector like most of us.

I thought the 'Shemp-bat' in Spooks 3D looked better, lol

I have both and they're good films -- a little bit silly, but fun.

The Monkey King 2 has fantastic 3D, the finale is quite something.

This weekend I watched Transformers Age Of Extinction and Transformers The Last Knight, having rebought the UK edition of the former movie after the American version broke down on me last weekend.

Both have the typical Michael Bay mix of native and converted 3D with at least three different aspect ratios so the overall experience is inconsistent - to my eyes I think Age Of Extinction has the better 3D but there isn't much between them.

Both films feature too many scenes where the 3D is barely noticeable, this is mainly because nothing is really positioned outside of the screen, that space is used for particle effects, gun barrels and that kind of thing.

The IMAX-formatted footage isn't very impressive when filming humans, just showcasing depth and separation but is often jaw-dropping whenever there's CGI on the screen. Both films do thankfully have frequent (if brief) pop-outs but apart from in the IMAX-formatted CGI scenes the bulk of the action remains at screen level or behind the screen, in that typical cowardly conservative Hollywood style all real 3D lovers are increasingly frustrated by.

It's worth noting that I previously saw both films theatrically. I was sitting at the front right of the screen for The Last Knight, and it had terrible ghosting, the worst I'd seen in ages. At home on my plasma TV however, it was perfect, no ghosting at all.

It sounds like I'm being quite negative but that's because, for all his talk and with the resources at his disposal, Michael Bay could have pushed the 3D a lot more. Those far-too-brief fighter jet scenes at the end of the last movie were so much stronger than what came before, the whole movie should have looked like that. My bottom line is that I really can't get enough of these kinds of films, anything featuring massive scale sci-fi destruction in 3D is fine with me. Roll on the next one...

Enjoyed both the film and the 3D a lot. I had not seen this one in 3D.
