Default HDR has spoiled me!

Ever since I started to watch HDR normal SDR has been kinda of ruined. The blacks just looks a little less black in comparison on my OLED. Anyone agrees?

I have absolutely no idea, I have a 1080p LCD TV. But apparently HDR is a game changer for both bright scenes and dark scenes.

Oh to have such problems!

:-)

Lucky!

I'm holding out until I can afford HDR on my 10 foot screen....

No. Have 65inch OLED and SDR blacks are just as black.

Get all 4K TVs to be OLED TVs and the prices way down and a 60" I like the look of, and I can't wait to see how nice HDR is.

And in the meantime, let their be a flood of classic movies remastered and released as 4K UHD HDR editions -- so I have something to watch that I care about!

Otherwise, I'll just stay happy in a 1080p world.

Blacks dont seem any better or worse from sdr to hdr on my c7 oled. All look amazing. I think what your seeing is perception of black being more due to the rest of color spectrum being so much more intense. I was a photo editor by trade for years and colors can look drastically softer, more intense etc depending on what you put them next to.

Nope. Black is black in any content I view. Watching Need For Speed for the 100th time on BD, and it looks f***ing gorgeous.

Since moving from my 32" 1080 TV to my 50" 4K TV I can say the blacks are definitely better but that's across the board not just HDR stuff.

Blacks and depth of field are nicely improved on HDR, but is less noticeable on oled tvs because those tvs already babe great blacks a d good depth on sdr.

Respect to you, sir, for being able to sit through that "movie" 100 times while I wanted the nightmare to end asap when I watched it for the first and last time. This one actually made it in my top 10 worst movies of the past decade.

My only complaint about SDR blu vs HDr Blu is the SDR blu's do kinda look "flat" now. That was on my OLED, and on my 940E. I think you get used to the pop from HDR and SDR just can't compete.
