The size of LPs lend themselves to this kind of packaging and artwork. It's why laserdisc sleeves were so good to look at.

On the other hand maybe they won't do sod all and Lucasfilm will let an anniversary slip by for one of the most important films in cinematic history, but hey-ho as long as we've got floating holograms to look at when we listen to our LPs.
Right? How was I ever gonna survive without it.

**** off Disney.

Soundtracks are probably aimed at collectors that appreciate the art. Movie posters and DVD/BD covers are meant to grab the attention of the masses that respond to floating head photshops, multiple "thrilling..." critic quotes and a Rotten Tomatoes "Fresh" logo in the bottom corner. Even better if it's got a teal and orange color scheme.

I really vainly hope that Disney purchase might actually happen. There go my hopes, dashed against the wall like the waves .

I’ve been told it’ll probably still happen.

By whom, and when? I'm not trying to be obstreperous or anything, but as someone who'd all but sell my soul to the devil for the original trilogy remastered in it's original theatrical cuts, but I've been burned so many times by this point that frankly, it's hard to get any hopes up about it.

How could Fox stop such a release even now? They distribute only.

They can’t, but Disney would have to share distribution profits with them, and I really don’t see them doing that. That is of course if any work has been done on a restoration at all, which obviously, we aren’t privy to know.

The 1977 cut, or one of the Special Editions?

Might be wrong but didn't Rian Johnson say he saw a 4K screening and said it was the special edition version.

Yep, Rian Johnson said he saw it. That is when he got the idea to have Red Leader and Gold leader in Rogue One. I think it was Pablo Hidalgo who later confirmed it was the Special Edition. Then there was another person (cant remember who) that said the original pieces had not been destroyed but were stored at Lucasfilm.

I have come to accept that I will never get a proper restoration of the UOT in my lifetime and I am content with the Despecialized versions. Doesn't mean I won't constantly complain in the Star Wars threads about how terrible the changes are just to get certain people riled up.

As much as I disagree about your Nolan opinions, I completely agree with this.
Despecialized is where it's at!
