That movie is laughably bad. Terrible acting and it has that made-for-tv quality to it. I suggest you rent first if you thought about buying it.

Yikes! And to think I was considering blind-buying it for $15...

Whatdya think of it?

I thought it had potential -- especially given the stupid state our ridiculous off-the-wall world is in today -- but Bautista's performance ruined it for me, as did the nausea-inducing camera style...

As an Amityville fanatic, I'm looking forward to finally watching this tonight (it had been in production hell for a good three years):

God...can Bella Thorne be ANY sexier?

This is a great movie poster for her. The blu-ray cover looks even better.

Indeed; unfortunately, the film was something of a letdown...Thorne was sexy as **** in it, but it definitely wasn't worth waiting three or more years to see. Of particular note was the ending, which was not as "exhaustingly satisfying" as test audiences made it out to be, or what was promised by the studio -- they reshot the ending multiple times to "get it right" and it wasn't all that satisfying. And besides, the real house at 112 Ocean Avenue didn't have a "spiritual witchery ring" around the property, as suggested here (though it was a confirmed land of witchcraft before Long Island, New York was settled during the American Indian era) and there were never any carvings of "Kill Them All" on the walls of the infamous "red room" of the basement (no such room existed, by the way; it was a small closet area that had some red paint splashed around it), which they stole from the god-awful Amityville Horror remake starring Ryan Reynolds.

In the plus column, the house built specifically for this set looked very much like the one used for the original Amityville motion picture trilogy in Toms River, New Jersey, and was a FAR cry from the mess of a mansion they used in the Amityville Horror remake. They also got the references to the De Feos and the address of the house correct (changed again in the aforementioned remake), and the opening sequence depicting actual crime scene press conferences in front of the house following the original murders was accurate (though it was a bit cheesy when they used an actor to depict Ronald De Feo Jr. in his jail arrest mugshots; real photos are available, as seen on the History Channel documentary about the case and elsewhere).

It was also kind of weird to see kids watching the original Amityville Horror -- on DVD, no less (the Special Edition disc I actually own that appeared in MGM's box set from circa 2005) -- IN the De Feo/Lutz home, though if you ask me that whole aspect of the film was bizarre; further, the whole "waking up at 3:15 AM" (the established time of the real De Feo murders, in and around) and "need to kill your family like Ronnie De Feo did" thing was tiring and clichéd at this point.

I am convinced the poster with Bella Thorne is the best thing about the new AMITYVILLE movie.

Saw the blu-ray again today in stores and wanted to buy it just for the cover, but perhaps I'll wait for a slipcover or a drop in price.

Is this the Amityville movie that was free on Google Play, or was that another one? Because I'd hate to think you're all dropping coin on such an obvious clunker when it was available for free.

It's not worth a purchase, IMO. Thorne is indeed quite the piece of ass in this, even for a quasi-goth chick, but that shouldn't be why anyone buys it.

Yes, this is the one. I, for one, didn't drop much coin to see this as a rental for a buck something via Redbox. I also prefer to watch films on my TV screen through a disc player (I'm not set up for streaming or online usage on my TV).
