While I care about audio quality, and would prefer lossless... I don't care about it enough to deny myself this release.

I think that's what Netflix is counting on.

And, really, we don't have any other choice until we're able to rip 4k discs (which we will, eventually). You mux the video from the 4k disc with the audio from the blu-ray and you have what you want.

That will be cool, Oblivion will be another release that could benefit from that, the other way around though.

My Netflix streaming only comes out as Dolby 5.1, so I can live with a lossy 5.1 track on the 4K disc.

I have to say that I can live with it too. I've been moving further and further away from the audio side of things, AVRs and whatnot I mean, because my hearing is just too ****ed. Not so ****ed that I can't still live my life as I've lived it thus far, but ****ed just enough that even on low volumes my ears are ringing like mad afterwards. That's what nearly two decades of home cinema abuse has done for me, yay!

I also got spoiled rotten by the sensational sound of my last TV, one of the Sony's with the infamous "dumbo ears" and my word did they sound good. The ZD9 which replaced it does not have these ears but I'm pleasantly surprised nonetheless, it's got nothing like the bass or mid-range of the last TV but it does a very neat pseudo-surround effect and that's enough for me right now, so a plain lossy 5.1 will do in a pinch. (TV can accept lossy Dolby/DTS and PCM 5.1).

Ah, so you don’t even use a 5.1/7.1 system now? Did you sell off your setup?

The sound from those Sony OLEDs is pretty dang good, or so I'm told. I might hook my TV up to my sub one of these days for a bit of extra kick.

No, it's all still there if I'm feeling in the mood for some tinnitus or need it for a review or whatever.

Not to derail the thread, but just a quick Q: how do you feel about the A1?

I am struggling really hard on picking my next OLED panel. I currently own the LG B6--and I am currently attempting to decide between the LG B7 or the Sony A1.

I will say, the lack of Dolby Vision update, that Sony said they would bring via firmware, is making me nervous. Doesn't look like it's happening this year--and some people are worried if it will happen at all now.

No worries bro, I upgraded from a 65 b6 to the 65 a1e

It’s better in every way except banding, maybe I got lucky With my LG
But every song panel I’ve seen has visible banding at 5% black , mindhunter etc suffers

But I’m over sensitive I’m sure

Overall best set I’ve ever used and will be a keeper for a easy 5 years

I also got lucky without having much banding on the B6. That makes me a little nervous, but what panel doesn't have banding issues these days.

Thanks for the feedback. When I demoed the A1, I was really blown away by the color gradation for both SDR and HDR content.

If I may ask one more Q: does the Sony video processor help in creating a better, clearer image for 4K content compared to the B6, based on what you remember? One of the reasons I am leaning toward the Sony is because of the video processor. What I mean is, as much as I love OLED tech, I still feel like LG's processor on the B6, leaves a little bit to be desired in terms of cleaning up unintended 'noise', and other minor macro-blocking issues in some 4K content, even on disc. I am always in a dark room, so I never put much into the whole ABL, peak brightness, and all that other stuff, which I know the LG B7 is a bit better at. However, the appeal of the LG B7 to me, is the multiple HDR formats, and now the Technicolor picture mode, which I guess Technicolor's own engineers worked on.

This is a hard decision to make.

Just purchased this in Sarasota, FL, no issues. Wasn't on the shelf, found an electronics employee and gave them the DPCI. Minutes later in my hands. Checked out at the shelf checkout as the lady directed me and volia. No issues, no dates. Just a, "wonder why they'll all in the back".

They are likely in the back as they aren't on the current planner.

Also, BrickSeek is useless. Shows nothing for my area.

I’m upgrading next year, I have a 55” C6. 65” C8 will most likely be the set I choose. Can’t wait for CES to see what LGs OLEDs will bring in 2018.

That should be all given the caliber of release. Lol. But i still want the collectible packing. I think with enough uproar they'll correct it on the non special package eventually.

Just think of it like this, it's meant to look like a VHS, well now you have VHS like audio

I know you're not referencing me, with my filthy LCD TV and all, but if the DV update never happened for the ZD9 I'd still be over the frickin' moon with how HDR looks on this TV.

Brickseek is now showing this in every Target (around me at least) but it says out of stock. Hope for a copy in the back or they haven't received them yet?
