Klaus (SPA Studios Animation, 2019) - Blu-ray Forum

NETFLIX has acquired exclusive global rights to the animated pic KLAUS, the directorial debut for Sergio Pablos, who wrote the story and is the co-creator of “Despicable Me.”

The all-star voice cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Rashida Jones, J.K. Simmons, and Joan Cusack.

The film is a Christmas family comedy that tells the story of a desperate postman who inadvertently brings about the genesis of Santa Claus. The screenplay is written by Pablos, Zach Lewis, and Jim Mahoney, based on an original story by Pablos.

“How is it possible there’s no story about the origin of Santa Claus?,” Pablos said. “He’s one of the most well-known and loved characters in the world! We felt this was a story that needed to be told and that there was no better way than with animation.”

Tanguy Olivier, Gustavo Ferrada, and Marisa Roman are serving as producers. The film is co-produced by Pablos’ animation studio SPA Studios and Atresmedia Cine, and executive produced by Jinko Gotoh.

The movie blends traditional and modern animation and includes innovative techniques such as complex, interactive lighting and the use of advanced texturing capabilities. Toon Boom Harmony will provide strategic technological support.

The film will be available globally in 2019.

Well, I've been following this project closely for a long long time now and I have a lot of faith in this. Netflix won't have any influence on the movie itself.

Great animation and expression; I like the style too. Well drawn cartoons and nice shading detail too, though I'm also a fan of flat cel colors too.

Santa Claus is going to town from Rankin Bass.

Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L Frank Baum - also a Rankin Bass film

Anyway this film looks beautiful and I'm glad we are getting a treat like this for Christmas

How long is that? Something familiar abut the image of the postman with the gun in his face and the designs. Like I saw concepts for this years ago.

as to the movie itself, as others have noted the animation IS great, I thought though some of the modern humor that slipped in seemed a tad too forced at times and the 'safe' plot progression you could see a mile away. On the whole, I enjoyed it but I can't say it completely wow'd me

Haven't heard much about this one, but I did get a coffee mug at a radio event last night. The event had nothing to do with Klaus in any way so it is weird they even had them? But hey, I'll take it!

I feel like it's been a long time since I first heard about this - very excited that it's finally here! Sure hope it gets a Blu-ray release!

This was such a beautiful movie! Beautiful animation that has to be seen to be believed, and a beautiful, heartwarming story. I didn't think it was completely predictable and I didn't find the modern humor a detriment as the way everyone talked and acted was modern anyway. I loved Jesper. And I loved the leader of Krum, sometimes she was hilarious! A perfect Christmas movie.

Thanks to your comment, I've decided to check it out, WOW!!! I'm completely blown away!! So touching and amazing!! I love it!!! Anime of the year 2019 easily.

I loved this.

Wonderfully stylized animation, a heartwarming story, fine voice acting and one of the more unique "origin stories" for Kris Kringle I can think of. Honestly one of the best animated films I've seen this year.
