Seems to be what it is, which seems weird for a scifi show to be produced for a religious university's channel nobody's heard of... there's an app on Roku so if it ends up there I might check it out but now I'm a little worried it'll be preachy lol

I looked into it some more, and on IMDb it said that it was "from the creators of Ender's Game". It was written by Orson Scott Card, who, as well as being a mormon (there's that BYU link), is a terrible human being, and some dude name Aaron Johnson.
Ender's Game is, by all accounts (I haven't read it) a fine science-fiction book, and I liked the film a lot, so I think this show can go either way. Card doesn't necessarily mix his politics and such into his fiction, but I think the real problem for this show could be budget and production value. We'll see, if any of us somehow manage to actually SEE the show at some point ![]() |

Last two episodes aired yesterday, so I started watching it Saturday and finished it today. It was decent enough, you can tell some of the actors aren't very experienced but overall the story was interesting. I wouldn't mind if they did more seasons.
Being on BYU didn't really give it overt religious stuff, there was even 2 throw away lines about sex (Feena says she's seen Duncan's apendectamy scar, implying she's seen him without clothes, and Lynn uses "twitterpated", aka the Disney-approved word for horny) and one about drugs (Feena says something about a science lesson on acid) which I found surprising since they don't show drinking, smoking, or sex in a positive light apparently. |
