Looks like it could go either way and be could be good or could be bad... Plus I've never seen any of those actors. What is this supposed to be on? BYUtv? I've never heard of that lol

Interesting, though it reminds me heavily of so many other post apocalyptic shows where bands of survivors fight among each other all of the time as the main plot. It might be good, but not something I'll probably watch soon.

Seems to be what it is, which seems weird for a scifi show to be produced for a religious university's channel nobody's heard of... there's an app on Roku so if it ends up there I might check it out but now I'm a little worried it'll be preachy lol

I looked into it some more, and on IMDb it said that it was "from the creators of Ender's Game". It was written by Orson Scott Card, who, as well as being a mormon (there's that BYU link), is a terrible human being, and some dude name Aaron Johnson.

Ender's Game is, by all accounts (I haven't read it) a fine science-fiction book, and I liked the film a lot, so I think this show can go either way. Card doesn't necessarily mix his politics and such into his fiction, but I think the real problem for this show could be budget and production value. We'll see, if any of us somehow manage to actually SEE the show at some point

Quote:
It's time for Humanity's Second Chance, Extinct premieres this week! Sunday at 7 pm MT to be exact. There are a many ways you can watch the show, and we are going to break it down here so you don't miss a second of this brand new sci-fi drama.

BINGE WATCH
If you're too excited for Extinct and can't wait to watch it we totally understand, and we've got you covered. You can watch the first eight episodes starting on October 1 at 7 pm MT on any of the BYUtv apps or here on BYUtv.org. You can download our free app on Roku, iOS and AppleTV, Android, Amazon Fire TV, and more.

Once you've watched the first eight episodes though you'll have to wait until November 19 to watch the final two episodes. Don't worry though, it's worth the wait!

WATCH WEEKLY
If you prefer to watch your shows week by week, you can! You can watch Extinct through your cable or satellite provider every Sunday at 7 pm MT.

We start off with a two-episode premiere Sunday, October 1, and then go weekly until the two-episode finale Sunday, November 19.

No matter how you watch it, we know you're going to love exploring a riveting new world characterized by extraterrestrial species, advanced technologies, and humankind’s enduring search for meaning and purpose.
I mean, that's great and all but I think they don't 100% understand what it means to binge watch lol I'll wait until all 10 episodes are up before I watch, I don't want to wait 49 days to watch the last 2 episodes... I looked on the app and they weren't there yet, and it says they air at 8 and 9cst, so maybe eps 1-8 will get added after 10 when the first two have finished airing.

I never got the BYU app to work on my Apple TV. Maybe it will now that I've switched to a different unblocker.

But, you know, meh...

Last two episodes aired yesterday, so I started watching it Saturday and finished it today. It was decent enough, you can tell some of the actors aren't very experienced but overall the story was interesting. I wouldn't mind if they did more seasons.

Being on BYU didn't really give it overt religious stuff, there was even 2 throw away lines about sex (Feena says she's seen Duncan's apendectamy scar, implying she's seen him without clothes, and Lynn uses "twitterpated", aka the Disney-approved word for horny) and one about drugs (Feena says something about a science lesson on acid) which I found surprising since they don't show drinking, smoking, or sex in a positive light apparently.
