Gareth Edwards confirmed there is a 4K remaster of Star Wars; the Special Edition versions are 1080p, so it's either a 4K upscale of those, or a new restoration from the original negative (or 35mm print), all the new visual effects would need to be recreated at 4K.

No, they wouldn't. That's not how it works.

Do you mean they were scanned at 2K? Are the new ones you are referring to the Blu-ray versions?

Oh, Edwards said it is a NEW 4K remaster.

The current BDs and digital copies are from the DVD masters (scanned at 2K) from a few years back (they've been slightly modified since). The source of those DVD masters (the film elements) have been rescanned in 4K over the last few years.

No, the Blu-ray use the (2K) 2004 restoration as a basis.

Yes, which was done a few years ago. It's of the Special Editions.

Try not to freak out everyone but the unaltered Blu-Rays have been officially confirmed! The original unaltered trilogy on is coming to Blu-Ray this December including a 4K mastered version of A New Hope!!!

No pictures or specs yet, just that comment from Disney but that's more than enough for me!!

Full press release:

This is the most distasteful prank I've ever had the misfortune of reading.

Does Attack of the Clones have the the headbutt in the Kenobi/Fett fight?

I'm in Ireland and I want to sure that it is there before buying.

Out of interest, does anyone know if the AotC on the Irish Store is cut or not?

The UK edition has the head-butt. I imported the Australian DVD of Episode II back in the day so I could have it uncensored and in PAL. I know what I'm talking about in this respect.

The uncensored UK Blu set has an Irish "12" certificate on it, so it's all the same content.

Thank you.

I haven't had the DVDs out in years but I was sure that we got Attack of the Clones uncut here. I can remember preparing myself to have to get it from the US Zoe Australia because Ireland was most likely getting the UK discs but I'm sure I bought them in a store here because we goy it uncut same as in the cinema.

That's a steal if you're into Digital or invested in Amazon Video.

They were taken off NOW TV a few months back, so it's nice to have digital copies for a reasonable price. I just need a nice tablet to watch them on now!
