The ~ 3 ½ min. timestamp of thee above ^ Panavision clip reminds me. In the Holiday and family spirit I’ll offer a real world public service tip regarding astigmatism and human vision. For those with significant astigmatism and approaching the need for this surgery - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post14266554 , despite the cost (easily $2,000 or more for the lens itself) and the fact that generally insurance companies don’t cover it, so it’s all out of your pocket with no reimbursement, still, some people should consider choosing a premium lens like a toric IOL (ex. AcrySof IQ) over an insurance-covered basic lens. If readers here are not yet confronted with this visual issue, feel free to confidently pass on the above info to your parents or grandparents, as the case may be and if they are indeed candidates (the ophthalmologist will do one or more IOL masters first to indicate the functional value) for a toric lens and if they can’t afford such a premium, advanced lens…I think it would make a thoughtful Holiday gift. ![]() |

"SAN JOSE, California – November 28, 2017 - HDMI Forum, Inc. today announced the release of Version 2.1 of the HDMI® Specification which is now available to all HDMI 2.0 adopters. This latest HDMI Specification supports a range of higher video resolutions and refresh rates including 8K60 and 4K120, and resolutions up to 10K. Dynamic HDR formats are also supported, and bandwidth capability is increased up to 48Gbps.
Supporting the 48Gbps bandwidth is the new Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable. The cable ensures high bandwidth dependent features are delivered including uncompressed 8K video with HDR. It features exceptionally low EMI (electro-magnetic interference) which reduces interference with nearby wireless devices. The cable is backwards compatible and can be used with the existing installed base of HDMI devices." https://www.hdmi.org/download/hdmi_2...Release_EN.pdf "All products must comply with Version 2.1 of the HDMI Specification and the HDMI 2.1 Compliance Test Specification (CTS); and until the CTS is available and a product has passed compliance testing a product cannot claim to be 2.1 compliant or market that it supports 2.1 features. The HDMI 2.1 Compliance Test Specification (CTS) will be published in stages during Q1-Q3 2018." https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_1/ ![]() ![]() |

HDR10+, or any dynamic HDR, is possible with HDMI 2.0b, as has already been confirmed multiple times.

Even indirectly, it’s good to see ^ HFR (120/100) mentioned in other headline news besides the exclusive cutting edge forum information provided in this thread with regards to next gen formats, be it on a more scientific testing basis, e.g. new readers click on the hyperlink ‘here’ in this past post - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...a#post13035501
recorded narrative high frame rate project, for example – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post13425318 latest being end-to-end demonstrations of high frame rate production for broadcast sports - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post13461582 <– something not mentioned in the press coverage for the ice hockey project was that based on the French experience with that project, the French producers believe there are now no real technical hurdles in the production chain yet to be solved, except for professional monitoring and recording, so, given that, HFR should be the next big milestone in next gen video (in terms of added value to picture quality). Like with PQ for HDR in Sept. 2014 – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ar#post9754213 You heard it here first. ![]() |

Yes, Q1-Q3 2018. But today is the day it was revealed the official way, in preparation for a better future.
This causes for celebrations for the 2017 remaining year, and during all 2018 long, and beyond. Methinks. And, hopefully the next HDMI 2.2, perhaps in 2020, will bring back 3D, but this time around with 4K HDR resolution, and with Dolby Atmos sound. Faith is what makes our world the way it will look tomorrow, today. ![]() |
