Nah. TWS's Captain was badass, mostly when he was fighting against Batroc. The costume change was great for that movie.

Strongly disagree with the Thor rankings, though you are correct about IM3 being no good.

Yep... if it wasn't for Civil War, Iron Man 3 would STILL be considered THE best number three film the genre has seen to date. It's remarkably good.

Fanboy Mandarin gripes and general stupidity aside...

If the same happened to The Joker you would be complaining too. Besides, Regular Man 3 was bad because it felt like a quirky comedy, rather than an actual Iron Man movie.

Not to get too far off on a IM3 tangent but I love the fact that Marvel knew "we can't go bigger than we've just gone." Meaning that to try and follow Avengers with bigger wild action would have been futile. So, they went in a unique, deeper and more powerful direction. Sure there are stunning action sequences but everything is in context of a greater theme and the entire story. It being more of a "Regular Man" Tony Stark story and NOT an Iron Man armor story was a strength of the film. Plus, they put the genie back by leaving the door open for a real Mandarin being out there.

They absolutely played it just right. They let The Avengers sit on its own and didn’t do anything but feed off the momentum and actions of that film. Everything in IM3 focused on Tony Stark and his immediate universe. I'm hoping that continues now with Infinity War for Tony. Build off his Civil War and his Ultron shortcomings.

For those of you wanting to complete a collection, consider these:

Missing a few of the extras, but dirt cheap compared to the US versions, and much more shelf friendly.

Edit: just noticed the "DVD" on the cover. BR has the wrong box art, the links go to the Blu version...

I hate the movie because it feels like Shane Black just stuck the title Iron Man 3 on the Lethal Weapon 3 script.

They look awesome in an unboxing that I watched on YouTube, highly recommend them for the price. You can get both shipped through Amazon UK for under $100 last I checked.

No. A more interesting direction that Marvel could have gone with is the magic vs. science route. Where Tony Stark has to rely on his science skills in order to defeat a supernatural being like The Mandarin on his own without the help of The Avengers. THAT would have been far more interesting. It would even made sense how Tony Stark overcomes his PTSD by dealing with an enemy that's not real-world based. It could have been like a metaphor or something. We already got the human side of Tony Stark from the first Iron Man movie. The magic vs. science stuff should have been the way to go. You're going to eat it up anyway.

Logan could fit your description.

Iron Man 3 is so wrong in many ways, they sold us one movie in the trailers and the result was completely different and dissapointing.

Also what a waste for Ben Kingsley. I thought he was great at the beginning.

Winter Soldier didn't try to be The Avengers but it was amazing. So, not repeating The Avengers isn't a good justification for IM3's awfulness.
