I was impressed with this UHD the first time I watched it on my previous Samsung 4K monitor. Just finished seeing it again on my new Samsung QN65Q9 (after a few days of integrating new monitor into my system, and calibrating) All I can really say is Holy S!@$!

that is the version that I was expected, with THAT artwork + 4K + other versions: Includes a 4K Ultra HD Disc and 3 Blu-ray discs featuring all cuts of the film including: • 4K Ultra HD Final Cut • Original Theatrical Cut • International Theatrical Cut • Director's Cut • Workprint Feature Version of that way I can avoid buy the 5 discs version and 4K single version, but $84!!! is insane! |

I noticed the same issues as Snakepuma on a brand new LG OLED B7 last night. It was like a brief snow storm of grain. Do I have to adjust settings somewhere? I have a Sony BRx-800 4k player.
QUOTE=snakepuma;14428899]I totally agree Geoff D, I also noticed some awful noise/grain, but on different scenes though, I’d have to go back and check the scene you’ve referenced. In my case, I noticed some “flashes” of “snowy” grain during the scene when Deckard first meets Rachael. 1 happens on & around Dr Tyrell’s face, right after Deckard says “just answer the question”, about the magazine question. 2 After Deckard asks about dog being served, as Rachael brings her cigarette down her face is outlined by heavy snowy grain. 3 On & around Dr Tyrell, after he dismisses Rachael & asks Deckard “how many questions...”. 4 And the WORST! On Deckard’s apartment, just as he tells Rachael that her memories are just “implants”. When Pris & Sebastian enter his apartment, the grain pops up again right after the little guy hits his shoulder on the door frame; the grain stays in the frame for a couple of seconds. The only way for me to get rid of it was to turn down the sharpness on my tv, which I always have on Normal, which makes the rest of my 4k movies look blurry & worse than blu-ray. I haven’t had any problems with any other movie with grain, SO FAR! I’ve had my Sony Bravia for about 2 years & this is the only movie in which I’ve noticed such a problem. It’s a shame because the rest of the movie looks AMAZING! Check out those scenes, see if you notice what I noticed. If we (the ones who have noticed this problem) cannot see the same scenes having this issue, does that mean certain discs were not “properly printed” if you will. What’s your take on that?[/QUOTE] |

It's more likely that the discs are fine, it's different settings/displays and different viewer sensibilites which are making the artefacts stand out more for some and not others. I've recently readjusted my settings for the umpteenth time and while this certainly helped with the rampant colour noise that I was seeing it's still there, just toned down some. The outright compression blocking that I'm seeing hasn't gone away though in that shot of Deckard looking at his Esper machine, to my eyes it's just a very fragile encode. For most people that general noisy untidyness simply registers as "grain" and that's fine, but this is one of those discs that I pray Warners revisit in the future with a fat Dolby Vision encode on a 100GB disc with the original Final Cut 5.1 audio alongside the ****ed up remix.
