That was fast, thanks. I'm on my way out so I'll try later tonight. I failed to mention that this is my older receiver and brand new BD player, DVDs and digital cable wouldn't present the problem. Could it be a co-incident or something not agreeing with the BD player?

usually happens when speaker wires short out. the receiver shuts down as a safety precaution. perhaps one of the wires got loose or frayed if you havent messed with them lately.

That's probably it, when I hooked the BD player up I pulled the receiver out a bit too... that's likely the source. Thanks guys.

Really cannot explain this phenomena...but when a receiver shuts itself down like that...more than likely its the speaker wire. Or even a defective speaker?
