That matches the one I bought on Sunday from Best Buy.

This is one of the most immersive atmos tracks I've ever heard

The theory is that the mix sounds excellent if you actually have an Atmos setup, but it doesn't fold down to 5.1 or 7.1 well. Those without Atmos setups (myself included) have trouble hearing the dialogue, because it's super quiet. Turning my center speaker up by 8 db solved the problem, though.

This has been corrected and you will receive the correct discs when buying this release. In fact, I firmly believe this was the reason this set was OOS for a while there.

My copy, along with others ITT were purchased after the restock at BB and all were correct. Having said that, it would be silly to think that none of the others are floating around out there, but I wouldn't plan on ordering at this point with the expectation that you'll get the incorrectly packed set.

Hope this helps.

I have Atmos and still find the dialogue to sound very thin on many scenes while everything else sounds super loud. I popped in the old blu-ray and it had a similar dynamic. Just the way this one was mixed/recorded I think.

Just watched this again with the audio output in PCM as recommended by someone upthread and I dunno if it was just a placebo effect or what but it sounded great. The LFE still booms and things still fly all around my head in the spinner scenes but dialogue didn't seem buried any more, the whole sound field was much more cohesive as a result and even all the various tweaks to this new mix didn't seem to stand out as much (or maybe I'm just getting used to them ). That was one of the most immersive surround experiences I've had in recent times, and all from a piddly 5.1 set up.

I'm still not sold on the UHD encode itself as I'm still seeing massive chunks of colour hiding in the grain in plenty of shots throughout the movie, but it's a subtle enough effect and the UHD looks so good otherwise (colour, detail, blacks, oh mai) that I can live with it. One of the reasons why I love rewatching this film is that I genuinely discover new things about it, I've seen it a bajillion times but only this time did I notice that we actually see Tyrell's office (or whatever it is) on the miniature when Deck flies in to question Rachael. I'm not saying that's a "uncovered by UHD" thing, I'm saying it's a "why I love Blade Runner" thing.

I noticed things on the UHD I didn’t notice before. I’ve seen the movie many times on cable, VHS, DVD and BD on 3 projectors and I don’t know how many TV’s. I’ve always really liked the film but it’s never been one of my all time favourites. Until I saw the UHD. It felt like the world really opened up and comes alive. I love this format for that, it draws me right into the film, something BD just doesn’t do for me. I really liked the audio on this as well but I can see why some may not. Once I get my second SVS sub for Christmas I plan on screening this again.

It does. I'm ordering online (as no BB within 250 miles has it in stock for some reason) so presumably their main warehouses have the corrected release.

On a side note, I'm glad that the price has dropped back down to $18. I was hoping to buy it for $15 at 12:30am on Thanksgiving, but after that entire fiasco with their site being down for seemingly an hour I just gave up on it. Paying three bucks more isn't that bad in the greater scheme of things, especially considering what some re-sellers were charging on eBay recently...

Yes, you are correct. They started shipping this correct make-up right before Black Friday.

So.Much.This.

Yeah, one of my biggest pet peeves are resellers. Not going to rant as it changes nothing, but your outlook is spot on. If you really like something, there is nothing at all wrong with paying retail for it.

Congrats on the awesome pick up!!! Blade Runner is an amazing movie that deserves to be in everyone's collection for multiple viewings.

Truthfully, I too want all of the other cuts as well. Fortunately, the special edition box can still be ordered from Amazon UK. In fact, I asked about doing exactly that, and there was a member who chimed in and confirmed they had already done so without issues. As the discs are all region free, you won't have to worry about playback issues, and you can avoid the scalpers on AMZ US and eBay.

Now I just need to get off my duff and order up one for myself.

I tried watching mine tonight and it froze up at the start of chapter 21, time stamp 1:03:24. After four cleanings of what looked like a flawless disc, I got it to jump ahead 14 seconds, freeze again about 30 seconds later, and then jump ahead another 14 seconds. That's where I gave up.

I was really enjoying the movie, too and now here I am crying about it instead. All I have now is a very clean disc that smells subtly fresh and won't play in my brand new Oppo 203. I will attempt one exchange to see if I can get a working copy.

My disc does not smell pine fresh but it did play perfectly in my OPPO, I also watched it this very evening.

Pine is a festive scent for the holidays, but I went with Fuji Cherry Blossom.

A cheaper alternative to get the US theatrical, international, & 1992 Director's Cut (but not the workprint) would be to get the Japanese single-disc "Archival Versions" release. It's readily available at CDJapan for ~$19 shipped via airmail.

I posted and recommend this around a week ago and for me it sounds better this way played on 5.1 ('though I have a 2012 Pioneer 9.1 A/V receiver but I don't have the place for extra speakers) system, at least to me.
All channel are supposed to be recorded at the same level but then there's Dialogue Normalization and other metadata embeded on the 7.1/Atmos data stream which is ignored by setting the player's output to PCM and Dinamic Range Compression to OFF, that way your receiver does the downmixing it considers best for your speaker configuration. That's my 0.002$.

I ended up getting the Japanese 2 disc set to avoid the disc stacking. Its a great looking box set too. I don't need all the other editions of the movie to be honest. The 4k is the ultimate.

it's pretty pricey. I still have the 30th digibook at this point.

Not really. It's around $45 after VAT removal if you order directly from UK Amazon. That's nearly half the price of the US Version for the exact same content.

If you already have the other versions though, it's understandable that you'd hang onto them and just go for the 4K Final Cut.
