I cannot agree that this movie betters the original. Sure the main duo are expanded well, but it was watered down so heavily. It would have been a much darker affair had they gone with Shane Black's original script, and considering the original, I reckon it would have been better.
But so many classic franchises have suffered with this issue. The original being a dark adult thriller which does well unexpectedly. Then to gain more of a wider audience (to capitalise on the new-found success) the sequel is watered down. Yes there are moments of darkness in the movie which are great (mainly involving Vorstedt). But that only shows how much better the movie would have been with more grit and less goofy humour, in my opinion. I cringe at some of the humour in this, I really do. The original had humour but it was minimal and well placed. In this sequel they just went nuts with it ![]() |
