Hello everyone, has anyone tried to update the new Memorex firmware yet? I tried today and can't get it to work it keeps telling me "no firmware disc detected." I have tried downloading it and burning it several times to the blank CDR and that didn't resolve the issue. I got this for my parents for the holidays and wanna make it work.. Please Advise!! Most firmware has been provided as an .iso file which needs to be burned to the disc as an image vs. a data disc. However, it seems Memorex simply zipped the contents of the disc and provided that as a download. That could be a potential problem depending on how the player recognizes the disc.

I see that they provided two firmware releases; one on 12/15 and another on 12/24. Which one did you try? What does the contents of the burned CD-R show?

It appears the firmware file structure is vary similar to the firmware contents for the Olevia Blu-ray player. A number of those users are also experiencing issues with getting that player to recognize the firmware disc.

EDIT: Other notes of caution per Memorex instructions:

Unzip the firmware and burn the unzip files (make sure only the files are being burned and not a parent folder) on a blank CD-R disc.
Warning: do not burn the unzip files on a blank CD+R /CD-RW/ CD+RW disc.

Q: What does the firmware dated December 24th do?

A: This firmware improved disc compatibility. Most of the latest releases from Fox can be played. We tested it with latest Fox released movie "Horton Hears a Who", which wasn't played in previous firmware but played in this version.
We also tested the below BD discs with this firmware, all can be played properly.

• "The Dark Knight"(Warner Bros.)
• "Transformers"(Paramount)
• "Spiderman 3"(Columbia)
• "21"(Columbia)
• "Resident Evil: Extinction"(Sony)
• "The Legend of Zorro"(Columbia)

We expect another firmware update to be available the week of January 5th.
