Thanks for the information.

I did a side-by-side comparison of the 805 and 875 and noted that 875 has a better video processing (and more power and extra HDMI input). Is the extra cost about $130 ($730 - $600) for 875 worth it for the video processing? (Cost of both units include tax and shipping)

curious on this now too. I would think the power output of the 805 is sufficient, as you probably won't even use that much. Video processing would be best from your blu player, if your talking about upscale that is.

I had pretty much written off the Onkyo's as an option for a new receiver, but the 875 is pretty loaded for that price and is very tempting. The Reon chip for video, plus the brown burrs, plus 140w per channel, plus 4hdmi inputs. Pretty darn good for a 600-700 dollar receiver.

If anyone has an Onkyo 875, can you tell me if the fan noise and heat are similar to that of the Onkyo 805. I have a PS3 and i really don't want anymore fan noise.

Nevermind

The Circuit City near me did not have the 805 but did have the 875 for $650. I am contemplating it. The only reason why I have pulled the trigger is because the unit is silver and not black. Decisions..decisions..decisions.

I was at Fry’s checking out the Infinity Primus P362 that is advertised for $258 a pair and came across the Onkyo 875 that was listed at $600. I couldn’t believe the price so I picked it up even though it was silver and a return item. Final cost was around $650 after tax.

This would be a step up from my current receiver, the Pioneer VSX-D414. Will try this unit out tomorrow but I may not notice a difference since my speakers are not up to par (AudioSource 380 System. I know, time for new speakers).

i original wanted to purchase the 806 but came to realize, through people here on the forums helping me out, that the 805 was the better choice for me.

875 at ecost for 618.99. Doesn't say anything about refurb or such. Someone said Ecost was not a good place to buy from?

I was looking at buying that exact receiver from ecost.... should I???

I have an old crummy HK receiver right now, its pretty basic, no hdmi and stuff I think its the 103 or 130 I forget the model, but nothing even CLOSE to these onkyo's I am looking at.

I want to get an 805 or 875, and ecost really seems to be the only place I can find one.

So basically, should I grab it??? Are they good, because it seems that site is gettin mixed reviews, and does their refurb stuff come with accessories like remote and calibration mic???

Thanks!!!

My first choice was the 805 for the Onkyo product line but getting a new one was hard to come by. I could have gotten a refurb 805 for the same price of the a new 875. So the choice was obvious that the 875 was better option. With the 875, I get an additional HDMI input, more power per channel, better video processing and 2 year warranty (as oppose to 1 year for the refurb). Also, my wife said that 875 at $600 is a good price and to pick it up.
