Why does it have to be HD? I would deifinitely buy some of those older shows on blu-ray in SD(preffereably at least remastered)...BUT, I would need multiple seasons or (depending on how many seasons) even the entire series on just one or two BD's. That, to me, would be worth while.
Because the "percieved value" issue. They're not going to shove an entire season on 1 disc and then charge people $40 for it. Sure, they could fit the whole thing on 5 BD-50s, but when they're asking for $300 for that, people aren't going to bite. If you pay that much for something, people expect impressive.

Outside of some kind of collection of budget titles, you're never going to see BD disc stuffing when DVD will do.

Nobody would be stupid enough to pay $300 for 5 BD full of SD material. If each disk was valued at around $25(the Patriot BD50 is $20 at Walmart), a 5 disk set would be about $125. I'd pay that because that's equal to what you would pay to have five 3 disk sets on standard DVD(as most can be found for about $20-$30 each). My point is the cost could be managed to even out, and the BD would be a more efficient/space saving alternative.

But you are right about perception, and people are always expecting too much from their tech and inevitably are left dissapointed.

Favorite show of all time, I have been collecting the season dvd's and was wondering as well if this would show up on blu-ray. Seeing the posts above seems like it wouldn't be much of an advantage if any at all except for more seasons on less discs.

Amazingly hilarious show. One of the few shows where I actually instead of thinking "oh, that's funny". They can keep the last couple seasons though, they sucked.

I didn't even finish collecting all the seasons on DVD, lol. But I'd definitely start with the Blus if they were to be released. Season 10 was/is/forever will be my favorite of the series.

Can you spoiler tag what happen in the series finale? I'm curious, thanks.

Most players have a flag for 4:3 material that would automatically pillarbox it for you. Read your manual

I searched both manuals extensively when I first purchased them and couldn't find anything. I will double-check though.

On both of my TV's HDTV & SDTV displays fine - HDTV shows as 1080i and SDTV shows as 480i. It is watching 4:3 upconverted DVD's that is the problem as the signail outputs at 1080p.

Both TV's pillerbox 480i and 480p, but stretch all 720p, 1080i and 1080p material regardless of if it is 4:3 or 16:9.

UPDATE:

On my Sony KDF-E4210A Page 53 of the manual states "When the TV recieves a 720p or 1080i signal NORMAL cannot be selected"

Manual here: http://www.fixyourdlp.com/manuals/Sony/kdfe42_50a10.pdf

On my Mitsubishi WD-60735 Page 32 of the manual hints at basically the same problem, but I couldn't find anything that specifically mentions the problem or how to fix it.

Manual here: http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/pdf/own...s/WD-65735.pdf

[Show spoiler]The series finale is a two-parter. Kelly is going to get married, and that's the basis for both parts. Before the wedding, the groom kisses Marcy and says it's no big deal. Basically, he doesn't think of marriage as something important and binding. Word gets around just as Kelly is about to say "I do". Kelly asks the groom if it's true, and he confirms it, saying it's no big deal. The marriage is stopped, and it ends with Kelly surrounded by the groomsmen, smiling.

No real "finale", but that was the last episode. They just restarted with the new episodes again on TBS, so it'll be awhile before the finale airs again, but it will, just keep an eye out.

Thanks! It's kind of a fitting finale

How about at least releasing them in Anamorphic 4:3 DVD so they are properly pillerboxed/widowboxed on an upconverted DVD player or Blu-Ray player that automatically upconverts?

I don't actually own any of the Married With Children DVD's so if they are properly encoded please forgive me and ignore this post but every "4:3 TV on DVD" title that I do own suffers from the same problem - they are not Anamorphically encoded. When watching them on an upconverting DVD player or Blu-Ray player I need to always toggle to player's resolution to 480p since the 1080p signal is forced into "Stretch Mode" on my TV.

I have a few 4:3 Blu-Ray's and those are properly encoded with the side matte bars. A Blu-Ray release, while not upgrading the image would at least ensure it is displayed in the proper aspect ratio.

Most 16x9 TVs have an option in the menu to detect either a 16x9 or a 4x3 signal and adust accordingly.

My TV does it just fine with 4x3 framed material appearing pillarboxed and 16x9 framed material appearing in the proper dimensions.

I guess I must be in the minority. I have 2 HDTV's (1 Sony and 1 Mitsubishi) in my household and both automatically stretch all 720p, 1080i and 1080p signals. Broadcast SDTV shows up as 480i so that properly displays, but whenever I pop in a 4:3 DVD on my Blu-Ray player I need to resest the players output to 480p to get them to display properly.

I've seen these shows on TBS HD and obviously they don't look high-def quality, but they look better on TBS HD than they do on my DVD sets. I'd bite if they were on Blu-ray just to have the whole set on two discs.
