How does that happen? The 1998 and 2014 films are U.S. productions, with Western casts and crew. The 2014 film co-stars Ken Watanabe and opens in Japan, but it is no more Asian than the films specifically disqualified in the OP. The 1998 film doesn't even have that much window dressing. It's about equal to The Lost World: Jurassic Park in terms of Asian influence.
