Default Sega Classics To Be Reborn On PSN?

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/4364.html

Quote:
So far, the PlayStation Network has been an excellent source of both new and innovative products like echochrome and resurrected old-school classics, so considering the latter, can they really ignore Sega?

While it's true that Sega has fallen on hard times and can't seem to produce a decent 3D action game if their lives depended on it, they remain one of the most important companies in video game history. Unfortunately, even when they give us something great in Valkyria Chronicles, the gamers don't respond and Sega is still left languishing behind the heavy-hitters of the new generation. So what better way to remember the good ol' days than to find awesome Sega classics from yesteryear on the PSN? According to DailyGamesNews, the ESRB has rated Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Phantasy Star II, Comix Zone and Gunstar Heroes for distribution on the Network, and this should come as good news to all veteran gamers. These titles are already available on the Wii virtual console, and they'd be fantastic additions to the PSN. The only question left is when they will officially announce them, and how much they will charge for each game...some people are willing to pay more while others are reluctant to go much higher than $9.99.

Anyway, we'll keep a close eye on this and let you know when you can expect them; we're just assuming the ESRB doesn't bother to rate games for a non-existent distribution. And talk about classics! Those four games are some of the most memorable in history!
omg yes!

ok guys..if you haven't played comix zone you are totally missing out on one of the most underrated genesis games ever. be awesome for this to be released on the psn

and sony..we want more of this kind of stuff btw. bring it on

Most of those games will be on the Sonic collection...if they sell those games on the PSN for $5 or up (as they do now) it would be a much better value just to buy a $30 game that includes all of them.

Also, just cause its rated doesn't mean it will come out doesnt mean it will be realeased right away. To my understanding, some games that were rated sitll took a year to come out after their rating in the past.

I'm still waiting for Streets of Rage II to come out on the Network with the online co op intact from the XBL version. If none of these happen to have any online multiplay, I guess I'll just settle with the Ultimate Mega Drive/Genesis Collection. I mean, I'm not willing to pay the higher price if theres no online multiplay.

If only Sega could put put the same kind of quality and invetiveness in their games today. I have almost all those on Genesis. I loved my Genesis and I remeber when it was the system to beat. Those were the good ol days of gaming. WHen video games were impossible to beat.

You'd rather have those on your HDD? How big is it? Disc please for me (and I assume the majority of others, though I see your point).

But even if you only want a few. $5 (which I can't see it being anything less then going by current PSN pricing) x 6 games= $30 (the amount of the disc). So even if you only wanted a few, think of buying the disc as buying a bunch of free games along with the one's you wanted.

are the graphics updated? and if so are they HD?

I would only purchase this if the graphics are on par with super street fighter HD remix. If so, then its a must have. But i cant stand the old graphics on HDTVs. They look OK on tube TVs but unbearable on HDTVs.

The box art is implying that the games are widescreen. Which would be cool cuz that means they are actually redone and not just tweaked.

I want the original Phantasy Star (Sega Master System).

I'll probably get the disc with all of those games. I had most of them back in the Genesis days.

The box art also seems to imply that you can go online with these games (it has a "PlayStation network" logo on it) when I don't believe you can. Consider the box art a placeholder.

If the games sold individually on the PSN are scheduled to be PSP compatible as well, then I would have no problem spending $5 per game

However, if they are not made PSP compatible - then the disc is the only way to go

Edit: Just thinking about playing Shining Force II again is making me feel all warm inside...
