The last time a good Alien film was made, Ronald Reagan was President. I think its time it dies.

While were at it, how about no more Terminator movies either.

No doubt there is some truth here. Prometheus didnt feel that much like an Alien movie. It wasnt that bad or anything but didnt fit. Covenant was OK as far as Alien Movies go. Nowhere near the quality of the first two but an OK watch. I dunno. Its just so messed up right now. They kind of blew it with the horrible Alien 3 and the equally horrible Resurrection which dont even exist to me. I view the Ripley stroyline and "cannon" as complete after Aliens.

Terminator is also a TWO-film franchise. The rest suck progressively more and more as they go along. So terrible.

Yeah, I think a Rogue One for the Alien series might just work.

Is Blomkamp doing anything at the moment?

He recently Tweeted he's "moved on".

This of course doesn't mean that he couldn't be convinced to comeback. If they do convince him to come back, IMO it would be "Alien 5", as a lot of the ground work has already been laid.

I, for one, want to see the prequels tie up with Alien. I found that Prometheus and Covenant have really grown on me after repeat viewings. I’d also like to see, at some point, a new big-budget AvP. For those who think this is mad, I’d point out that the concept can make for a great movie. The comics have been full of fantastic AvP stories.

im Actually happy about that. Never liked the idea of retconning. It not only screws up the franchise chronology for the fans that do like those other films, but also craps all over the work of other artists involved. For better or worse, the other sequels exist... they're here to stay. Last thing we need is for directors to use their opinions of other films in the canon to dictate how a franchise should be therefore alienating fans that embrace the franchise as A whole. You want to remake it, that's a whole other deal altogether and atleast absolves you of canonical duties. Don't mess with the existing canon though. A good director can make a good sequel from a bad predecessor.

Let it die and that wasn't a choice. The aliens 2 film sounded cool but I'm getting sick of being dissapointed by new films trying to keep old ones going.

Two directors, I can't see that working at all, unless you were talking about a collaborative script writing scenario.
Let Ridley do the first half of the film (write and film it) while Cameron does the second half. Too many writers have dipped their thought process into the realm of the series (studio’s also at fault), maybe going back to it’s creative/inspirational essence will bring the series back from its current slump.

Crazy indexed, maybe the films that followed Aliens never get made and we wouldn’t be having this discussion on where the series itself it’s currently headed (maybe).

Also as much as I like Michael Fassbender, David is such an annoying character and one of the main reasons Covenant was shit.
What do you mean “after that ending”? If you mean David being left alone on the ship, what’s bad about that?

If that's the case, Scott probably won't be directing it (busy with Merlin and Queen and Country).

That might be for the best, honestly. As much as I'd like to see him finish what he started.

I'll believe the people who say they want the franchise to die when they can honestly say that they declined to watch the latest installment.

...how many people here haven't seen Covenant?
