Pretty nice looking release. Nice color and detail, makes excellent use of a select few light sources and shiny elements here and there, thick HDR shadow wraps things and there's a lot of darkness, so it's hard to say how some displays will handle that. Looks nice on my end though. The BD seems just as dark but without the depth, contouring and richness.

Did they ask for email proof or anything? You just have to be direct they've helped me numerous times while I was on the chat. I never let them off the hook until I get my resolution

Yeah I sold my DC from my 4K steelbook and the buyer said it redeemed in HD not 4K. He asked me to send pics of the discs and back of the case, I don’t know who he contacted but he ended up eventually getting it in 4K.

I posted about this in the 4K equipment thread for the LG UP970, but does anyone using this player have an audio delay? I've only had this issue with discs outputting Dolby Vision and I have it hooked up with 2 HDMI cables (one to the receiver one to the TV). Never had the problem with HDR discs. Figured I'd see if anyone had any insight before I started messing with any of the settings on the TV/player. I've already checked cables and same issue across 3 different ones.

Picked up the last 4K copy at my local Target. It must have been selling like hot cakes.

Watching it now, one heck of an impressive soundtrack and picture!

Sampling some more of the regular blu ray, and man, the HDR and WCG on the 4K really makes the movie look more realistic, and like it has higher production values imo. It's a kind of interesting difference, especially for the genre.

Yeah, absolutely beautiful looking picture. For some reason, Warner Bros has been getting some flack recently. But in my opinion, this is another fantastic looking UHD release by them.

Finished watching it earlier tonight and this is a spectacle of a 4K disc presentation. I picked up more detail than I had originally seen theatrically. Everything here is a beauty - clarity, clean look, colors, black levels, hdr.

Truly a must have in any collection.

WB's had some amazing UHD releases, new and old. Can't wait for 2049 next week.

Re-watching now and damn this thing looks good, never seen such great shadow detail and inky blacks. The movie itself is much better on a re-watch as well. It felt a little "seen it all before" in the theater, but it's actually a damn good movie in its own right.

Quick question: Did anyone else's slip cover have two bends in the front-middle? Every single copy at my local BB did and I'm just curious whether it was BB or possibly WB messed them up during production. They're not super obvious but they're there.

6 days until Blade Runner.

I picked up the BB steel book today & here are my impressions.
I did comparisons between the DV & the HDR version & it’s the first title I can remember that I enjoyed the HDR version better than the DV.
On my LG OLED the DV was crushing blacks but the HDR version did not. Usually it’s the other way around.
It also froze at about 1hr 10 minutes in. I have an Oppo UHD player so I took the UHD out & cleaned the disc & then it played fine.
I was astounded at the Dolby Atmos mix. The bass was incredible. Some of the deepest bass I’ve heard yet.
I felt like in the theater I watched the movie. At home with the Dolby Atmos track I “experienced” the movie. The sound effects at the scariest moments really made it more real.
The only thing was the center channel seemed to get overwhelmed by the other speakers. It sounded like I needed to turn it up. There were time the sound effects was a lot louder than the dialogue. Did anyone else notice that or have that problem.
It’s the only UHD so far I’ve had that problem with. I think I remember someone else mentioning that somewhere.
The use of HDR on this title really made the movie & is the best use of HDR I’ve seen yet.
The colors seemed a little muted at times but the red balloons really stood out.
Pennywise in the storm drain at the beginning of the movie is now my showcase for HDR.
Great job Warner except for the center channel being too low for people with full range speakers & a lot of bass.
Please if anyone else noticed that or is having that problem please post here so I’ll know. I don’t see how that could be just my copy.

I only watched the opening scene before switching to BR2049 but I also had some weird DV issues with this disc. I felt like I was losing some detail in the blacks and there were also some handshake issues where the picture went away completely for seconds at a time before Dolby Vision would reengage. Typical WB.

Otherwise looked very nice.

One thing I’ve notice is that Dolby Vision tends to have more issues than HDR does for many people. The industry needs to get behind ONE of these formats, let it be perfected and move on. Zero reason for two or more "hdr" formats. It’s completly useless. Much like two HD disc formats or whatever else. Consumers don’t benefit from both being out there. They do the same thing, basically.

It’s dumb.

I can unfortunately report I had grey letterbox bar issues in DV on my LG 55 C6 fed from Oppo 203. Same as every other DV title it seems. Ugh. Aside from that and the aforementioned darker than usual blacks on it, this is a stunner.

Has anyone determined if its the player or the TV? I wonder if there is a setting on the player? Just curious.

Not a single one of my DV discs has grey letterbox bars, on either my living room 203 and C6 or bedroom 203 and C7.

The plot thickens. Hmmm. What are your DV settings if you don’t mind me asking?

Just pre-ordered the UK release.

Can't wait to see this in 4K. I'll worry about when (if?) the extended version comes out on UHD disc later...

There's so little DV movies that it's pretty much clear to me that the industry has gotten behind one. It's just the few that are still doing DV and with HDR10+ coming, I have a feeling DV will eventually just go away. There's a marginal difference at best between HDR10 and DV anyways.

I have the same feeling. I didn't want to start a flame war but since you mentioned it I figured that I would point out that once again, HD digest has lumped the DV and HDR 10 into a single talking point and didn't mention any differences between the two. AVS forum once again pointed out that the difference was negligible. My display is supposed to get a firmware upgrade in the next couple weeks but I don't know if I really care. I don't know if I want to buy an overpriced player that locks up and deal with the DV related bugs for what amounts to a minor difference that many are calling "slightly different but not better looking". It may be superior technically speaking but if the results are hardly noticeable than I don't know if it is worth the money and hassle. Maybe we just need to wait until TV's with 4000 nit capabilities come down the line to fully utilize the 12 bit color and the superior contrast that will allow DV to shine.
