Have always love Marantz gear. In fact, I have 8 MA-500 monoblocks across my two systems to this very day!

Finally something that looks worthy to replace my Denon AVP-A1HDCI.

Ugh, I love Denon gear as well. In my aforementioned living room system, I have 3 of my Marantz monoblocks running off of a Denon 3802, the first 7-channel, Dolby Digital EX/DTS-ES capable receiver that came out in 2002 and it's still going strong.

Yeah, the problem is the AVP just won't die. Neither would my AVR-5800 - I finally had to retire it from active duty mainly due to lack of HDMI.

I don't expect the AV8805 to match the (incredible) build quality of the AVP, but if there is a slight change for improved sound, that will help justify an update. Because right now I'm not running >7.1, and I'm still waiting for my 60" Kuro to die before I get 4K in that room.

I had the big Denon AVP-A1 back in the day. That thing was a beast.

Yeah, Denon stuff is for sure built to last (much like Marantz). And go figure, when you want a piece of gear to die so you can upgrade it, it lasts forever...never the other way round.

Yeah, I'm like that with two main pieces of gear, the Denon AVP-A1HDCI, and Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD. Both so overbuilt, they effectively put their respective product lines out of business. Kuro is gone, and Denon/Marantz offer nothing of the same magnitude of the AVP.

Yep, not like I'm ready to go 4K in the living room, but my Panasonic plasma is the exact same way...it still puts out a beautiful picture and has gone strong for a while now.

I have been waiting for Marantz to up the ante with 9.1.4 or 7.1.6. This could be an expensive start to the year.

So I am wide awake at 3:00 thinking about the various configurations this beast offers contemplating which layout will be the best. I still have width channels in place from the days of DTS Neo X, and have missed the effect they had on the front soundstage. But the option of having front and rear heights with top middle is going to be pretty damn cool as well, and speakers are in place to do this also. But the wild card to me is Auro 13.1 as I am intrigued by this approach. Does anyone know of any support groups I can join, because this is getting kinda crazy.

I feel the same way and will be "settling" with my 7.2 set up for the foreseeable future...and I'm totally fine with that.

Here's a little something to help ease out that checkbook and preorder this beast.
