I bought the iTunes digital copy over Christmas but ended up getting the BB steelbook.

I'm glad I did. The PQ is better & the Atmos soundtrack is tons better than the digital copy.

When I watch the digital copy I watch the digital copy. When I watch the UHD with the Atmos soundtrack I experience the movie. It's a huge difference.

The bass on the Atmos soundtrack is some of the best bass & placement of effects I've heard. I was not expecting that when I bought it.

The PQ on the UHD is not as compressed as it is on the digital copy. It looks gorgeous. Pure eye candy!

I called LG today to see if there was a DV update in the works. I talked to Signature Customer Service. They said they hadn't heard anything about lighter black bars when playing DV. I find that hard to believe.

They said they hadn't heard anything about DV giving them an update & had no idea what I was talking about.

Of course that is customer service & not the engineers.

I asked them if they could email the engineers to find out & they said no so I guess LG owners are left in the dark.

Here's hoping!

Or just watch and enjoy the HDR that is used. Looks fabulous on my E6. One of the best UHD discs Ive ever seen to this point with terrific HDR highlights in many scenes. 95% awesome blacks. Never did I find myself saying "I wish this had Dolby Vision". Just saying. I hope they do some moe updates for our 2016 sets but if they dont I wont fret over it.

Has anyone noticed how Jack Grazer looks like the guy who played adult Eddie in the mini series? It's especially noticeable when he makes frightened faces.

I noticed the exact same thing, especially at beginning of chapter 11. Researching that issue is how I found this thread. I removed my receiver from the link and still an issue. LG OLED C7 and Xbox One X. I wish I knew what it was because it’s really distracting.

Nobody else is seeing?

I'm not seeing anything like that. The only thing I can think of is double check that your TV and player are both set to operate at 10bit color. you may want to try doing a reboot of the television and if the problem still persists you may want to try swapping out your HDMI cables with a different brand if you have any others around the house you could try. It sounds to me like a problem with the HDMI port on your TV not being set correctly. I have run into that problem when I set my TV and my player to 10 bit but my receiver couldn't handle it. I got banding and macroblocking. Once I by passed the receiver the problem was solved. That was on an older receiver with HDMI spec that couldn't handle 10 bit 4,4,4 color. The one I currently own works correctly.

If you have removed your receiver than I would think it's a problem with a setting in your TV or UHD player. Ryan Mathew has the same player I do and if it's set to run in 10bit color then the problem would have to be a setting on his TV or the cables. I can't be for certain but I am pretty sure that the Alien Covenant thread had an LG owner that was seeing blocks in the movie that nobody else was seeing. I think he figured it out so you may want to try searching through that thread. I honestly don't remember the details but I think his problem was similar to yours. If you are running 4K HDR with 4,4,4 color then you need to make sure that you have High speed HDMI cables that can handle the 18Gb bandwidth needed for the signal. Normal cheapo HDMI cables will not get the job done. They don't have to be $100 monster cables but make sure they are High Speed and can handle 18GB bandwidth. Also check that your TV and player have the latest firmware updates just incase they updated their HDMI software. Try switching your Blu-ray player to 8 bit and then see if it effects the problem. Try setting your blu ray color pattern to auto just to see if it has an effect. It's got to be either a setting in your blu ray player or your TV's HDMI is not set to display a 10 bit signal or the cables you are using. I can't think of any other advice.

I don't know if this applies worldwide, but I am from the UK. I have my IT 4K coming on Monday but don't have a 4K player yet. I have a 4K TV at the moment only. i am stocking up the 4K titles starting with IT as I will be getting the 4K player soon. Plus it comes with the Blu-ray so I am future proofing for now.

My question is, can I play the Digital Download in 4K? Or will this be standard 2K? I have heard a lot of mixed results along the lines of: It depends where I redeem the download code. Some sites give you the movie as HD. Some as 4K. Can anyone shed any light on this?

AFAIK, with the demise of Flixster in the UK, the only place to redeem Digital Downloads is the TalkTalk TV store, which does not support 4K at present. I could be wrong, but that was my latest experience.

He totally does! Good catch by the casting director or maybe just coincidental. I like how he doesn't appear to be sickly like the kid Eddie in the 1990 IT. That version made you almost believe he might have something with as tiny as he was. This version makes it clear it's all in his mom's head.

See, I heard Talk Talk was the only place that was showing in 4K if available. LOL.

The child actor playing Stanley reminds me of Anton Yelchin. Perhaps he could have played him if still alive. Maybe too young for the part though.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll have to do some testing this weekend for sure including checking cables. This is what I was using when noticed it and shouldn’t be an issue.

DynamicView Active High Speed HDMI Cable, 4K, HDR, 18Gbps, 30AWG, CL2, 25ft, Black

I have my Xbox set to 12 bit color but I’ll also have to try dropping to 10.

Picture on this is great...I thought the sound was great, but the middle channel was a bit low.

As a movie, I had some issues with it. The scares weren't scares...it seemed like they were trying to jar volumes with big jumps in volume.

There was a choppy-ness to it where it felt like there were too many characters to try and build. The kids figured out what was going on abruptly, and I thought there were some continuity issues.

For example, there were time jumps that seemed to now match up. A month (or at least weeks) after a rock fight, and the kids still had marks on their heads.

The acting was terrific and I liked the way that humans were sometimes the bigger threat to the kids. The parents were the scariest part of the movie.

^^ This.

Just making a scary, supernatural clown the antagonist would not have been enough to really make this movie work. Having the bullies, the dysfunctional/abusive parents, each of the kids having their own internal struggles, all while throwing in tension and disputes within The Losers club. To top it all off, the tied in love story elements.

Honestly, Bev's father was the most difficult thing for me to watch in the movie. Both actors did a fantastic job with that tension and relationship dynamic.

The human aspect of the film really is what makes this film work on so many levels. The time to set up each of the kids in The Losers club and the relationships between the kids was utterly fantastic.

Pennywise rarely scared me. Bev's dad made me squeal like a little b***h though.

That could be the problem. Either way it's an unnecessary conversion that doesn't need to be in your video chain. If you have deep color or the equivalent then turn it off an set your video to 10 bit 4,4,4. Good luck!

One big element from the book that I think was hard to do in the movie and they only really touched on was
[Show spoiler]how IT affected the adults in Derry. To some extent they all became monsters themselves whenever IT woke up to feed. I think they did their best with the kid's parents and how some people turned their heads when bad things were happening, but I remember it being more intense in the book.

By the way, have any of the people who've had a chance to watch both IT and BR2049 on UHD found themselves wanting to rewatch IT even more than BR2049? I hope people don't sleep on this disc. I think most people are more excited for BR2049, and rightfully so since it's an incredible film, but at least in terms of picture and sound quality I feel like IT more than held its own.

Personally, it felt like Pennywise was holding back. I know the first scene is brutal to watch and I know how the story was written but still. For a demon that eats kids it doesn't feel very aggressive. It takes it's time to scare them and that is fine but I figured the violent scenes could have been amped up so that the kids were more active and pennywise could let the kid gloves slip a little. Still, they probably got a ton of flak for the violence they did include. You can tell by the scenes with Beverly and her father that the director had to walk a tight rope of being true to the story without traumatizing children or offending an ever increasingly touchy public. I know what I was like when I was 12 and I loved films like Predator and Aliens back then but I sometimes wander if the parents of these Hollywood kids worry about some of the weird stuff they are subjecting them to.

As a fan of the book my nitpicks of the movie (which I liked a great deal):

The movie wasn't scary. The story on the page is bone chilling. Just not seeing the translation on the screen.
It felt like it was a director's uncut version of those PG13 horror films. Snip a few seconds here and there and it would lose the R rating.

To expand on that, the kids did not seem frightened of IT.
A kid's hair literally changes to white in the book (and I think the 90s tv movie), these kids can't stop cutting up with each other.
