This is my second favourite horror franchise of all-time and I like Blum so this would make me quite happy. Especially if we got another film before 2020.

They should make it like the game, and have them look through drawers for keys.

I say let them have at it. I guarantee that Blumhouse will do more with F13 than what Paramount was too cowardly to do.

Didn't Paramount already lost the rights to the franchise, though? Last time I checked, WB only gave them five years to make a Friday the 13th movie or they lose the rights. That was way before Interstellar began filming.

I believe they did. I think they reverted back to the original creators.

Ugh... it was already!!!!! 2009 was a decent flick. Why is noone listening to Cory feldmen! Jason v Jarvis sounds awesome! This isn't hard yet they make it so. Stop the fracking reboots.

You do bring up a good point. The Tommy Jarvis character seems to be something that a talented horror filmmaker can work with.

I heard about that too, but I currently don't know what's going on with the Friday the 13th film rights.

It wouldn't be hard to imagine them bringing back Jarvis into the films. It's just much harder to imagine them bringing Feldman back as the character.

I would love to see Tommy Jarvis return at some point in the future.

He's the character though right? The other dudes just sucked.

But I doubt they will, after all they seem stuck on the reboot

Reboot can be broadly used, it can either be starting from scratch like most or continuing after the previous films (except erase Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X).

The word "reboot" is not what it use to be. I think most people overreact to it. You can still reboot something and still be a continuation. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is a perfect example of this. Not to mention, if Jason Blum were to reboot Friday The 13th, he would acknowledge the originals and not pretend like they never existed.

Thumbs up

Last I heard, there was some dispute over the rights.

If that gets sorted out, and Halloween 2018 is successful, I think there's a great chance this could happen. No one else seems able to get anything going. Blumhouse has a track record of success, and their low-budget approach minimizes risk. Whoever ends up with the rights would be daft to not seriously consider it.

Well, if Marvel Studios can get X-Men back, then anything is possible.

Whatever happened to the sequel to the last reboot? I am guessing they just gave up on it.

I think they did give on it. That last reboot had its fair share of issues after a slam bang opening and a couple of neat tweaks to Jason Voorhees.

For years, they tried to develop a sequel to the WB / Paramount reboot, but never got it nailed down. There was even talk of having it set in winter.

Then Paramount made a deal that gave them an exclusive window. There was talk of another reboot, an origin story, found footage, and a TV series. But nothing came of it, and the deal expired.

Now, I think some of the original creators are haggling over the rights. That will have to be resolved before Blumhouse, or anyone else, has a go at it.
