After you update any Sony X1 Extreme equipped TV you will need to power the TV off and on and then go to the "settings" menu and reenable the "Enhanced" HDMI feature. This should get DV streaming to work.
Regarding DV not working over HDMI or USB here's what I know and have found out. First, I want everyone to know that I personally watched DV play on Sony's Z9D and A1E at CES with Sony's new UBP-X700 UHD Blu-ray player player and Sony's USB content. I have the USB DV stick coming to me later this week and I'll play it in my showroom on all X1 Extreme equipped TVs. Second, as everyone know DV works beautifully on streaming content. Third, from what I can determine the issue is that Sony developed the DV upgrade to Dolby's latest profile and we need OPPO and Apple to update their devices. This is my best early evaluation. I'm waiting for verification and will keep everyone updated as I learn more. Here's one of Dolby's technical .pdfs that explains their profile levels. |

It appears my tv is not up to date. But when I try to update, it says it's up to date. I show - PKG6.2676.0070NAA ![]() Network update says my tv is up to date, but it's not. It was mentioned above that the updates roll out in waves. Should I just wait for the update to hit my tv? At what point should I worry? Thanks to anyone who can answer. (I will do the USB update this weekend if I haven't gotten it by then. I just prefer to let the tv do everuthing.) |

Are you sure that is the correct version number? Based on the incremental build numbers, you are ahead of the update that was released today (unless Sony uses some weird versioning.[/QUOTE]
Triple checked....yes. That's what my TV shows me! Downloaded with USB method |

I am now watching Marco Polo on Netflix in 4k with Dolby vision.........cool! I think?
Picture settings are all over the place from where I had it previous. Dolby vision for example has my brightness and contrast at Max settings, am I meant to leave it as is or should I tinker? |

I never changed them on my E6 and have been quite pleased with the image quality when watching Vudu and Netflix DV content. |

OK, so I downloaded the new FW onto USB, and plugged it into the 940E, and it updated again, and now DV is working fine on the apps.
As far as DV pic menu, I set several things to the way I wanted them like Motion Flow, color temp to expert 1. It does look really good, I hope they map the grayscale settings over from SDR on the HDMI inputs when they make it active. All the white balance settings for apps are just OEM. |

My friends used to call me Mr. Sony. I have been loyal to Sony since 1983, always buying their "Top of the Line" models only, including SL-5800 Beta Max (1983), followed by two HiFi Beta models, then a Sony VHS HiFi, two XBR CRT's (27", 32"), a 60" XBR LCOS (2006), multiple DVD players, Sony's Top of the Line dual sided Laser Disc player, Hi Band 8mm camera, multiple Sony Bluray players and most recently 75" 940E.
I also purchased the Oppo 203 thinking I could view Dolby Vision on my 940E only to be informed by this forum's members I could not as the Sony was waiting a firmware update. Oh, I also purchased a 930D (65") last year for my son, along with a Sony 800 4K player, but I wanted DV for myself, thus the 940E and the 203 Oppo for me. As well I have three XBR LCD's (all 46") purchased about 5-7 years ago. As you can see I've been very committed to Sony. Now with the absence of DV capability via disk (HDMI), I feel that Sony has failed to fulfil their contract as this television was marketed as having or getting DV. I don't believe you can advertise that and not fulfil your commitment in a reasonable period of time and to wait one year is not reasonable. I paid almost $8,000 Canadian for this set last July, I'm fed up waiting, I don't care the reason for the continued delay, and I would like compensation from Sony. Enough already, Sony needs to compensate all buyers of the X1 Extreme chip with a monitory refund commensurate to their failure to provide the consumer of what was advertised in a reasonable time frame. To wait even another month is not acceptable. Please add my name to the needed class action law suit. Cobra ![]() |

I may eat my hat but I cannot believe for a moment that Dolby Vision is not coming to non-native apps built into the TV and won't accept the format from external sources, I think it is just a matter of time. The fact of the matter is that this version of the firmware update has been out less than 24 hours so all we can do is wait for some communication. As an owner of the 75" Z9D which is a fair chunk of change, I purchased it without any knowledge of a Dolby Vision update so that did not factor into my purchase. I've had my set almost a year and a half, have waited a year since they first said they'd bring the update to the set, so I am going to wait until I hear from them that HDMI sources is off the table before I get litigation happy. In the meantime I am going to wait to hear official word and enjoy my displays that I bought for what they do currently (which I am extremely please with) and at the time of purchase rather than get upset just yet. |

I don't use any of the internal apps. Was hoping to get DV from my Oppo/Apple combo platter via HDMI.
