Default The Mist Blu-ray...Blind buy?

I've heard such mixed things on this movie, reviews appear to be generally good 72% on Rotten Tomatoes, but have heard many dislike the CGI and the rest of the movie. I'm usually a fan of horror movies but have been disappointed with most of them of recent (Hostel, Saw movies, etc).

I'd like to here your opinions and ultimately is The Mist worth a blind buy?

Without giving anything away, all I can say is I enjoyed the movie, but hated the ending.

I'll pipe in and say buy it. The pq is great and the story is great. It has excellent build up but dont be fooled its by no means a slice and dice flick. More of a good drama with some blood thrown in. I think the portayal of society during a crisis is as scary as anything else. Find a decent deal and be entertained. And no, the ending is not for girlie men... Just dont read about it first.

Thumbs up

Good movie with ONE OF THE BEST ENDINGS I have ever seen.

People love or hate the ending. It is not true to the book, but Stephen King approved and endorsed the ending....in fact he liked it a lot (watch the interviews in the special features).

Not a typical Horror film....more of a moral drama/action story with horror elements.

Rent first. For me, it has super re-watchability.

+1. Exactly and well said.

DO NOT READ ABOUT THE ENDING.

It was pretty average at first, especially good for the nostalgia of Night of the Living Dead and other movies like it (trapped and surrounded by monsters). Considering the state of current horror movies of this type, "average" is quite a compliment. But then the ending elevated it to an immediate buy.

I read the novella and loved it and when I saw "The Mist" for the first time in theaters, I was let down, but after repeat viewings, I've come to cherish it.

It depends on your taste in movies. Like someone said earlier, there are not buckets of blood and gore (yet there is quite a fair share), but it's more psychological horror than a creature movie in my opinion. The scariest part of it is how the humans deal with the situations, not the monsters that come out of the mist.

I'd say buy it. I love it and think it's great...especially the Black and White version.

That is what horror is to me.

I'm a little fed up with the way most horror movies are lately. I get tired of watching movies that put extreme gore/blood in place of just good old fashioned scares, good environments, and smart plots.

I think I'll buy it and if I don't care for it I'll trade it.....thanks!

If you like monster movies with great characters and events. You will not be dissapointed.

I thought it was a very well done film.

I've ordered from them once before. Slow shipping but their prices are very low. Their selection is lacking though.

It was so depressing to see how badly we as an American movie going populace have been brainwashed to expect a storybook happy ending where everyone lives happily ever after and the good guys come in to save the day in every movie. The ending was powerful. Anyone who says the ending ruined it for them needs to deprogram themselves.

If they had stuck to the simple horror storyline I would have liked it somewhat, but some of the over the top characters later in the movie left a bad taste in my mouth. It is watchable but I cannot recommend it as a blind buy and I am typically a big fan of Stephen King derived movies.

I blind bought it and resold it about 2 weeks later. The movie was pretty decent but I didn't like the ending and it wasn't really worth owning to me.

Love it. Somewhat scary; very disturbing. Devastating ending. I have watched it several times. The director's cut is included (presented in black and white). I watched it once, but I prefer the color version.
