Get over yourself if you don't like the film series don't watch them it's as easy as that.
Actually it was a response to the most arrogant post of the year. Some people simply don't like never ending franchises. They don't need to 'grow up' nor do they need to 'get over themselves'. Pot, kettle, black.

Marvel Cinematic Universe or whatever you call it

Pirates Of The Caribbean

Divergent (I love the books and I liked the first two movies but making a TV series spin-off is just going to ruin it even more)

X-Men, now that Disney is going to ruin it...

Transformers

The Fast And The F***ing Furious

Star Wars

Jurassic Park

James Bond

Despicable Me

Cloverfield (I know it's not really a "franchise" but it's kind of an anthology.)

Stranger Things. I know it's a "TV" series but each season is treated like a movie so

I have nothing against franchises. If they go on and on, I can and will watch the ones I like and ignore the rest. I wouldn't demand any series to end because of what I think. Similarly, if a series I like ends, it won't hurt my feelings in the long run.

All that being said, I will list the ones I do feel I have given up on and won't be excited about seeing any more.
  • Alien--Covenant might grow on me, but it did underwhelm me and put me off the series.
  • Bourne--what did the last couple add to the series anyway? The original three were a fine, complete series as it was.
  • Chucky--I love these when they don't take themselves seriously. The first 4 - 5 are a blast. Curse and Cult come off as way too stiff. If they're going to keep going that way, then I'm calling it quits.
  • Die Hard--as much as I enjoy them (even the fifth one), I don't think I would care for a sixth entry.
  • The Fast and the Furious--never thought this would amount to much, and I still don't care for the first three. I do enjoy 4 - 8, but eight movies are enough for me.
  • Mission Impossible--it is an enjoyable series, yes, but I think it hit its peak with 3 and 4, and won't expect much out of another one.
  • Sharknado--hasn't this been played out yet?
  • Star Wars--I will see this through to Episode IX, and as long as it rounds things off I'll be happy. But I don't need spin-offs or any other cash-grabs. I've been a fanatic for too long--it's time to let the fandom end.
  • Terminator--I love them all, and I was on-board for a new trilogy with Salvation, and then again with Genysis. If they're just going to keep resetting it each time, then no. Just pick a direction and go. It's getting tiresome to have all these sequels set up something that never gets followed-up on.
  • Transformers--the first three were pretty solid as a trilogy. 4 and 5 kept me hooked purely because of cliffhangers and splosions. They were rather weak though, and I'd rather cut this series off at the latest. A sixth one or spin-off just won't interest me anymore.
  • X-Men--I was fine with the original trilogy. Then the new trilogy came along and I wound up enjoying it even more, despite screwing up the timeline or whatever. Any more will just be convoluted. Sure, I'll give Dark Phoenix a try, but won't expect much.
On the flipside, I am okay with seeing more MCU. DCU, James Bond, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Godzilla (US or Japanese), Mad Max, and Evangelion. Can take or leave Jurassic Park, King Kong, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Really just the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They are the one clogging up movie theatres with their endless sequels, if they stopped existing there would be far better options available. Other franchises annoy me that they exist (Star Wars being the main example) but do not release so many films that it affects me negatively like the MCU does.

That being said, I would not mind if every movie series ended.

But again no one is saying hey if you hated the first four Transformers films you still have to go and see the new one. Look I am a huge Star Trek fan but I can not stand Star Trek: Discovery at all. I watched the first three episodes and then stopped because I hated it. I am not going to waste my time watching something that I can not stand. I would rather watch some thing that I like.

If people who hate the Transformers films are still paying to see them even though they can't stand the fact the the series is still going well that's there problem not the fans of the franchise. So yes they do need to grow up there are more important things to get worked up over. It's silly to get worked over the fact that The Transformers Franchise is still going. I was using the Transformers franchise as a for instance.

  • I'd still like a Man of Steel 2 and maybe another Wonder Woman, but the DC movie universe is going nowhere. Batman should hopefully get rebooted and be a separate series again.
  • Most Marvel movies leave me cold, except Guardians, so there's that.
  • If Han Solo turns out to be crud, I may stop at Episode IX
  • The Alien franchise is now treading water with no new ideas
  • Terminator series, just struggles to get what was great about the first two

so if I'm following your thinking correctly, if Marvel stopped making movies.....better movies would all of a sudden start coming out and being made by other companies??

also.....how does a movie franchise existing affect you in a negative way?? personally, I had no interest in the Twilight, Divergent, or Hunger Games series......never watched a single one. did their existence hurt my feelings or affect me negatively in any way?? no. I moved on with my life and for the most part, forgot that they even existed.

I agree with the "Don't like it, don't watch it," sentiment, but if I was being mischievous I'd say the Cars franchise. I don't know what it is about those films, but they rub me up the wrong way.

I'm easy, if I don't like them I won't watch them...if I still watch them then I clearly enjoy them so hope they continue.

Bond, Transformers and F&F.

Bond: because I feel like it has so many actor's playing the character over the years and it just doesn't feel like any of the stories are connected to each other.

Transformers: 3 should have been the last one. Why Spielberg and Paramount "OK'ed" into doing 4 and 5 is beyond me.... I don't care about how much money they made. Bay's writers suck, along with his teenage behavior (see transformers 2) make it a joke to the series in General.

F&F: I have only seen 4 and 5, and never seen the others but still they feel like they come out every 2 or 3 years.

Star Wars: Depending how things go after episode 9 and the whole twice a year movie release may make the series reach it's peak by 2020.

No, the better movies are already being made by other companies.

However, what I said was, if MCU films stopped clogging up theatres, people would be able to see those movies in the theatre rather than waiting for the Blu-ray or streaming release.

That's a fair point but it assumes that those better movies could put enough asses in enough seats to keep those theaters open.

I don't think the answer to that question is an obvious no but I don't think it's an obvious yes either.

Maybe not but they are the ones who can't shut up about it

This place is lousy with this kind of stuff. Too many comic book movies. Too many sequels. To many reboots. Too many this. Too many that.

I dunno, maybe this is the end of the world as we know it but me? I feel fine.

Hey, that's kinda catchy...
