How was Happy Death Day and Snowman? I wanted to also rent 9/11, but heard it's a left-leaning psycho-babble nonsense machine burdened down by unnecessary political rhetoric from the likes of Whoopi...

I haven't heard of the 9/11 movie. But, redbox has a bunch of other movies that I want to rent in the upcoming week, ie Battle of the Sexes, Bullet Head, IT, November Criminals and The Foreigner.

Happy Death Day: just your typical PG-13 horror flick. It was a bit strange how it went from a "serious" horror movie to a comedy of sorts in the middle. I didn't like the way they had a pop song playing in the background during one of the scenes.

The Snowman: interesting psychological thriller. Haven't read the book, but this was pretty good. I like these types of movies where it is based in a foreign country during wintertime. I was surprised to see
[Show spoiler]Val Kilmer
in this.

I give both of these movies a 3.5 / 5.

I plan on buying both of these movies; hopefully when the price drops to less than $12.

I wish Disney would re-release their Silly Symphonies shorts as the DVDs have long gone out OOP. I was happy to find Mickey Mouse in Black and White Vol 2 at a used media store for $3. That's the only other "Treasures" set I have. They should re-release them all.

If you don't like animal cruelty, don't rent Bullet Head -- we turned it off after the first 15 minutes or so.

The Foreigner could have been better; I was waiting for this film to come out ever since I saw the trailers, which suggested Jackie Chan was back on his feet and kicking ass again, even at his age. Unfortunately, the film placed more of a focus on Brosnan's Irish ex-IRA character than Chan's fight sequences, and it suffered because of it.

I'll probably skip it then; rented Jigsaw last night...

Are there any moments of wildlife being killed in the film?

There is one scene in which C. Sevigny
[Show spoiler]chops a chicken's head off in the barn.
It looks "kinda" realistic, but I'm sure it's fake.

Thanks for the info on the other 2 movies. I prefer renting movies that have actors/actresses that I recognize. I try as much to avoid those low-budget, direct-to-video stuff that redbox rents.
Jigsaw is another movie that I want to rent.
