Interesting. This is a franchise I'm so far behind in. I think I only saw the first 3. Are any of the others worth taking a look at? It would be nice to have some sort of box set but I don't know if they warrant it. Seems like one they should do a proper remake of.

I'll pick this up. I'm sure it won't be great but I'm only missing like 1 or 2 of them which is the remake and the last one I think. I can't remember right now.

Having never watched a single one of these films until just this last summer I can definitely say that I'll be picking this up. I did a marathon where I purchased and subsequently watched the entire franchise and found most of them enjoyable enough to revisit again. I really wish part 2 could get a decent release in the states and that Lionsgate would put out a proper box set. The 4 film collection is better than nothing for sure, but it'd be nice to have a proper set that includes the missing entries. This announcement may be the motivation I need to pick up the Arrow release of the original film as well.

Dimension is sure going to have a busy 2018 though it would appear. New Hellraiser, new Children of the Corn, new Halloween... it's a mini mid 90's revival of the big Dimension direct to video franchises.

I'm interested in this only based on the strength of Feast (same director).

HA HA HAAA ... Oh jeez, there's another one of these? I shouldn't be surprised, as there's another Hellraiser coming out a month earlier. I'm guessing they're both cheapo sequels made just to keep the rights.

I haven't seen most of the series. But, based on the trailer alone. This looks like it may be better than usual. I didn't realize who directed it until you mentioned it, and I love Feast. This looks more serious for the director, and hopefully it delivers.

Dimension films? They should've called it Children of Weinstein.

The last Children of the Corn remake was so bad... I love the first two movies in the franchise for going for horror and shock, looking theatrical and having kick ass scores, but aside from the over the top third one, everything that followed was so low budget, dull and forgettable. I'm surprised the series lasted this long.

I remember other thrash franchises being around in DVD stores like Scanners, Howling, Puppet master, ... I'm probably missing out on some other ones.

I've always liked this franchise. Some are better than others of course. But this one HAS to be better than that last tragedy that took place in a desert.
Let's see some cornfields. It IS called Children of the Corn after all.

I gave up on this series after part 3 & haven't seen any of the others except Genesis which was horrible. Ill probably be skipping this altogether as well.

Like I said, they are made super-cheap just so the production company can keep the rights. Just like The Amazing Spider-Man and Fant4stic. If a new movie isn't made every X-number of years, the company loses the rights.

4 is easily the best of the sequels. I'd say check that one out.

If you didn't like 2 or 3, I wouldn't bother with 5 onward (although I never saw the last one).

I wrote a 2,700-word essay titled Reasons to Avoid the First Nine Children of the Corn Movies. I'm a longtime fan of the Stephen King short story collection Night Shift and the tale Children of the Corn therein.

My essay covers the 2009 made-for-TV adaptation plus the 1984 theatrical adaptation and its first seven sequels: The Final Sacrifice (1992), Urban Harvest (1995), The Gathering (1996), Fields of Terror (1998), Isaac's Return (1999), Revelation (2001), and Genesis (2011).

I peddle PDFs of my non-fiction at Dooovall dot com. Preview the Children of the Corn essay here:

The preview of your essay cites SKELETON CREW as being from 1982. That is easy to refute. The copyright says 1985 in every copy I've laid eyes on.

I can't believe this insight is so far down on the list.
Yes, check out #4. It's not shock and gore as one of you ppl hailed 1 & 2 as being, but it is good.
Hated REVELATION and GENESIS big time. REVELATION was boring as all get out. GENESIS was just plain stupid in every respect.

5 & 6 were so-so, if you like direct to video grool.
