Continued sales of key titles to new PS/3 owners
+ better distribution of The Fifth Element remaster?

As well as the sales of The Host on both formats.

Doesn't look like HD will have PE to brag about much longer.

74% looks good.

"Next week" comprises releases on 7/24 i.e. week ending 7/29.

Effects of 300 will be shown in the following week's Nielsons.

Nope, on a car forum I visit people were talking about the movie and out of 20 responses, five said they were buying it on Blu-ray. No one said they would buy it on HD DVD.

Does anyone notice how the 'neutral' Warner has stopped releasing numbers on how each title sells on its respective format? When was the last time they released an actual breakdown of sales per format?

Just imagine the pressure that is building to keep the promise of catch-up. Yet, doing so will help obliterate HD DVD.

Hey, it will probably be a collector's item since the new version will replace the older one. On a side note, I saw on another form someone arguing that the Theatrical Cut is an HD DVD Exclusive and will not be on Blu-ray. Wow. i replied, you know they more than likely will discontinue that, so whats the point?

I believe Best Buy had a $14.99 sale for it, so that could explain the placement, plus being that HD DVD sold such low volumes, it wouldn't take much to get it into the top 5.

I really hope that Warner has just been waiting on the new Java profile players before releasing their HD DVD only titles. I would really like to pick up the Matrix trilogy as well as Batman Begins.

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this... Was Premonition ever listed in the top 10 DVD sales the week it was released? I don't remember seeing it, but then again I wasn't looking for it. The reason being, some people think that Amazon is the end and and be all when it comes to sales stats. Remember that Amazon was offering Memento to go along with the PSP when it was on sale, but did it ever show up in the top 10 of Nielsen? I see Resident Evil made it this time. I am not sure Amazon actually reflects the reality of what is really selling. Anyone?

Most people aren't reading that kind of news. Most people see things in stores and buy them, unaware of what is going on.

This whole 'format war' is outside the reaches of the well informed already... and will become more so over time.

Oh yeah, I forgot...

It was a day and date release with Blu-ray. And yes, it was the top DVD seller of the week. Infact, not a single HD DVD exclusive Studio had a title in the top 20 DVD's sold. There were 11 from Blu-ray exclusive Studios.

It was also the top renter.
