True that Mr. Penton, chief analyst?
Indeed, and we here get the pre-event scoop.

We're also planning on showing content that best demonstrates the HDR tone mapping so we can see the how HDR10, HDR10+ and hopefully Dolby Vision HDR and how they perform differently with actual HDR images on all the flagship 2018 TV models.

Good stuff
Little known fact to readers-
the thing I admire the most about you Robert is that you helped in the funding of an initiative to aid the people of Haiti (similar to the quality which I admire the most in one of these speakers - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post14648468
is that I personally know he is a blood donor)…..selfless traits, both.

P.S.
I’ll do my part to the current discussion for readers who may be totally unawares. The Annual TV Shootout evaluation event was created by Value Electronics and the TV Shootout name is a trade mark owned by Value Electronics. Robert Z. is Value Electronics.

Yes, nice try from the outfield, would I like to spin again?

This LARGE fixed cost issue would be at least one of the reasons why Criterion and Kino would be hesitating to release their first 4K UHD discs, no doubt.

When it comes to technical information on certain subjects such as HDR I find Blu-ray.com the best place to get the information. On other subject matter which is not covered here AVS offer useful information, I also like DSLReports.

Kino was contemplating releasing The Good the BAD and the UGLY, they did a poll on their Facebook page last year, but from reading the comments there were too many people who said yes but with a provisos.

Phil, now that you’ve had time to digest, have you considered the possibility that ‘Philips HDR’ (http://www.blu-raydisc.com/Assets/Do...0729_clean.pdf )
morphed into Philips/Technicolor’s SL-HDR2 in v3.2. - http://www.blu-raydisc.info/index.php ?

What counts is the overall atmosphere...the people, how they intersect with their knowledge sharing and learning experience.
In that context one doesn't go without the other. There are no separation, it's a totality of the ensemble, a communion of all senses and sensibilities, a union mixing movies and music with technologies and emotional comfort zone.

There are no better places in the universe than the planet we are all living on.
It can fulfill our lives with abundance of joy...films and music, and it can also rip apart the very things we cherish the most. ...Our friends, families, children, grandchildren, parents, ...all that human jazz.

PaulGo, let's make Blu-ray.com the best it can be. If you have any video technical subject I'd like to take a crack at providing the most accurate information.

Can you suggest subjects for us to discuss here?

Lordo, I think I briefly red on another thread (one of the Ultra HD Blu-ray player threads?, I believe) that you dive (I do too, having shot the Tiputa pass back in the day before most had heard of it, upper far left photo before the current shifted, then from Rangiroa onto Bora Bora far upper right - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...cs#post8865467),

so in case you’re interested - https://twitter.com/BBCEarth/status/957229525422747648

Minor correction ^, it's always been the best.
Anyway, you certainly have the platform….looks like this thread is up nearly 12,000 views in a mere 48 hrs.
Rock on.

In that spirit, to be clear, this expressed conundrum - “Yet we aren’t even always invited to be present for HDR transfers” ( http://www.studiodaily.com/2018/01/c...-asc-commuter/ ) is not a Dolby thing…..it’s a studio thing.

The people who dive and swim underwater are . . . the best lovemakers.
...The Shape of Water.

"Lordo", lol

* Can I change my username, I would like Ciel_du_Nord ... Etoile_du_Nord
... one or the other, not necessarily in that order.

Bob is good too.
