I went into this with very low expectations and actually enjoyed it.

Twist at the end was eh. The movie overall kept me engaged.

I figured out what happened immediately when Merrimen and Bosco robbed the wrong trash truck. The truck with the money had the middle aged white guy driving. He nodded to the hispanic driver driving the same style truck. When they robbed the truck and it was the hispanic guy i thought something was off.

So who else was in Donnie's crew besides Ezekiel's Right Hand Man from Walking Dead? Did i see one of the women who ordered lunch as one of his crew?

Just curious, when the cops were discussing how the robbers met each other and there was mention of one of them being the wood rep in jail, did anyone know what they meant?

I would have to hear the exact line again but from what you posted I think they're talking about Inglewood. A somewhat bad part of L.A. I believe there is a scene that says "Inglewood" at the bottom when the scene in that neighborhood starts.

1) spoiler tags!
2) If they wanted to make it a surprise,
[Show spoiler] they totally made that moment with the two trucks way too obvious. I think everyone knew at that point there was a switcheroo coming.

Ah, I get what you're saying and that would make sense. A wood, in California jails and prisons, is a white guy so the dude was the rep meaning he ran the white card (group/race) in jail. I'll let you guess how I know that lol. I heard that California is the only state where their jails have cards with rules.

Caught this one last night and have to say that I really enjoyed it.

Sure some of its elements felt "familiar" & the testosterone was dialed up to 15, but certainly a film worth checking out.

Really enjoyed the firefights (especially the last one). Loved the Michael Mann-esque quality sounding gun fire, truly A1.

4/5. Figured I should catch this before it leaves theatres all together.

This was a very fun, thrilling ride. The long runtime did not even bother me. Sat down at 8:30pm, walked out at 11:05pm and it did not feel like I had been in there for 2 1/2 hours at all.

Den of Thieves writer/director Christian Gudegast is returning to helm the sequel along with Gerard Butler. O'Shea Jackson Jr. is in talks to come back.

Wouldn't mind catch in this again before it leaves theaters. Look forward to setting the Blu Ray on price-tracker. #nomoreday1purchases

I was thinking this while I was watching the film a couple weeks ago; was there any use of hiphop in the movie at all? You would think a film like this would feature quite a bit of rap but I don't recall hearing any in the film itself.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would despite the lack of true star power and the really long runtime. The director could’ve cut 30 to 45 minutes from the film and made it tighter. I wonder if the eventual TV edit will actually make it even better with a shorter run time.

The two main gun battles were really good and LOUD. I feel as though this will gain a bigger audience once it hits BR and VOD because it sure wasn’t in theaters very long near me.

It's still going strong down in my neck of the woods.
It already built a large following, which is why they gone ahead with a sequel.

watched it over the weekend and was decent....3/5. dumb plot twist at the end which others have mentioned...

there were a few parts in the movie that were totally unnecessary but this one annoyed me the most....WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS?

[Show spoiler]Merriman has the stripper sleep with Butler in order to get his cell phone number, right? for the sole reason of calling him during the heist to antagonize him

what was the point of all of that?

A poor man's Heat.

Decent enough action sequences with some top notch sound.

The characters and their crutches (or lack thereof) are poorly developed and don't really contribute to much.

The ending reveal is pretty WTF (and not in a good way).

6/10

Thumbs up

Finally saw Den of Thieves and it was good.
I think this is the closest we'll get for a "Sequel" to the classic action-drama movie Heat. This even has the echoing shootouts.

My main complaint for any heist movie is, for all the planning these crews do to earn some millions, the risks are totally not worth dying for or them going to jail the rest of their lives. In this film, they had everything figured out
[Show spoiler]except for getting stuck in traffic. Dummies. Clever planning except for that major detail. Otherwise, good action and story. Having to rely on others is also a major flaw in their plan. One guy gets caught and it's traced to each one of them.

Gerald Butler's character redeemed himself by caring about his daughter. That one brief scene made me think the guy wasn't a total jerk afterall.

Haven't seen part 2 yet.
This was free to watch on
[Show spoiler] Tubi.

Heat 5/5
Den of Thieves 4/5
