That's strange. That's completely opposite of what I've heard about the show.

Same here.

All I've ever heard is that Bill Lawrence likes the show 4:3 and would never go widescreen or HD. I've also heard it was never framed for 16:9.

I think ABC pretty much forced Lawrence to go HD for the new season, otherwise it would have stayed 4:3 SD.

Weird. I have the first 5 on DVD so far (since that's how they aired), but for the HD 8th season I will wait for BD.

If you read the quote precisely it actually said John Inwood who is the cinematographer on Scrubs. So there is a chance.

Ok now I'm completely confused. After last nights episodes, the same old intro was used...in HD. I don't get it.
