Usually, the card would be silent but two studios actually had music written to accompany them: Warner Bros. and Allied Artists.

The Intermission card for THE MAZE, with Marlin Skiles music cue, has not been part of the film since the original 3-D theatrical release in 1953. We are proud to announce that it has been restored for the upcoming 3-D Blu-ray release from Kino Lorber!

The film was rushed through post-production and editor John Fuller mistakenly flipped the left/right images for the Intermission on the camera negative. Audiences in 1953 saw the title in reverse 3-D but restoration expert Greg Kintz has now corrected that error and for the first time, you will see it properly on the 3-D Blu-ray.

THE MAZE is our inaugural collaboration with Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation and the Paramount Archive. This outstanding 3-D restoration would not have been possible without the vision and support of Richard Lorber and his excellent staff at Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Up next on the 3-D Film Archive/Kino Lorber 3-D restoration slate is SANGAREE. http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/sangaree

For more information on THE MAZE, please visit http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/the-maze

I believe Bob's phrase "inaugural collaboration with Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation......." portends some wonderful things might be happening in the near future!!!

Never hurts to have friends in high places. I hope this collaboration will open many doors! I'm tempted to ask about further collaborations, but I trust all will be revealed when the time is right.

I wish all Golden Age 3D blurays included the intermission cards. I appreciate how touches like that make the experience that much more authentic and can reveal a structure to the film.

I agree 100%, especially when you know the script was written with the Intermission in mind!

Will you be including a transfer of the Viewmaster slides of Sangaree in the supplements?

Probably not, the rights holder would want payment and every penny available is going into the restoration.

That does stand to reason, it's the reality of our world these things come down to money. I admit I naively assumed as well that no-one would care if a few pictures from an old viewmaster slide were scanned and added to a bluray.

I had hoped that some of the really rare movie preview related viewmaster reels you had in the 3D Archive might be made available on 3D Rarites 2.

Is it true that you funded 3D rarities from your own pocket? If money can help improve what can be done on 3D Rarites 2 is it possible to set up an avenue for donations?

I'm sure a great deal of work went into the September Storm fundraising, and I know you are very busy, and this may involve more work for you, but if it will help I would like to make a contribution, and I'm sure others on this forum would chip in too.

Thanks very much, I appreciate it.

Pretty much all of my 3-D work over the past three decades has been paid for out of pocket. I've never drawn a salary for the work that I've done in this field.

Here's the full story of the Archive: http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/home/hi...of-the-archive

I will certainly let everyone know if and when we do another Kickstarter campaign.

Thank you!

I certainly welcome any slide scans that may be possible, but can understand that it may not be as simple as that.

Complete side topic here, but I've sometimes wondered if there's an archive somewhere with all the negatives from various viewmaster reels. There must have been a vast amount of stereo-photography produced over the years, including many that didn't end up on the final reels.

Likewise. It's always important that these projects get a lot of early momentum to get the ball rolling.

You know, every time I go to the "Golden Age" thread, I see posts and thumbs up from the same small group repeatedly. It's never boring but instead gives me a sense of special comradery to us all. I really feel that we are a special group. I'd list us here, but I'm bound to probably miss somebody and insult them. You all know who you are!

No, we don't even have the scans yet! They should get to us next week.

I would say sometime later in 2018.

Other updates: our proposed and anticipated "3-D western" has been put on hold by the company that we had hoped to work with on the project. It may still happen but there won't be any news or progress until late this year.

I, THE JURY has entered "it will happen when it happens" territory. Less than a week after the UK copyright holder gave me the green light to announce our work on the restoration, a major Archive got involved and now I can't say what's going to happen with that title - or when. It's been taken out of our hands.

That being said, we have SANGAREE and JIVARO in the Paramount cue plus 3-D RARITIES II and our nudie-cutie double-feature with ADAM AND 6 EVES/BELLBOY AND THE PLAYGIRLS in the restoration pipeline.

And a few surprises...

Well, Bob, some of that news is a bit disheartening, but only a little. The disheartening part is more of a "delay and not a "dead". The good news part is a reassurance and this last line is mysteriously exciting!

Question for Robert, when you say the scans are due, are they in digital form ( like on a hard drive)? Do you deal with real film nowadays? Thanks!

I'm sorry you have to deal with these kinds of obstacles. I was very much looking forward to hearing more about both. But I am grateful that you have many other things in the works.

Is it the case when delays and setbacks like this occur that some of the other projects you have lined up can move ahead in the schedule?

I hope you get the opportunity to return to these two titles at some point not too far down the road.

This is so disappointing to hear. I've been wanting to see this in 3-D for a long time, so I hope that the issues can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

We work with 35mm film if it's a title that we own but when we are a work-for-hire, as on the Paramount titles, the elements are scanned at their chosen facility in LA and we get the raw scans delivered on a hard drive.

The (temporary - I hope) loss of involvement on I THE JURY is especially frustrating as I have been diligently working on making that happen since December 2011.

I have a long backstory with saving the 3-D version. I found and recombined the only surviving dual-35mm left/right prints around 1991. On July 27, 1999, I presented the UK premiere in 3-D with Mickey Spillane it attendance.

There's a picture with him and I tell the story on this page of our website: http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/home/hi...of-the-archive

I got THIS close to getting it done; the restoration agreement from the rights holder was with our lawyer waiting to be executed and I got their approval to make the public announcement at MoMA on September 2. The major Archive that entered the picture out of the blue contacted me on September 5 and then everything changed.

It's a l - o - n - g story...

My goal was to have it done and out this year on 3-D Blu-ray for Mickey Spillane's centennial. Now? I don't know what's going to happen.

Sigh.
