Looking at topless women in 3-D for a few months?

... instead of looking at man-eating tigers (Bwana Devil) or helmeted apes (Robot Monster) or whatever. My ironic humor isn't coming through, is it.

Does the 3-D Film Archive own ADAM AND SIX EVES and BELLBOY AND THE PLAYGIRLS ? What is the duration on the latter?

Remind me again what is the status of THE DIAMOND WIZARD ? I've only seen it twice.

As soon as we get the opportunity from the copyright holders, Greg will gladly look at man-eating lions and helmeted apes.

I mean, it's not like we have a choice in these matters! We have to work on the titles that are available to us. We own the Coppola film and ADAM was delivered to us on a silver platter.

DIAMOND WIZARD is with MGM.

I have a collector's copy on field-sequential running about 65 minutes but I think it's speeded up a little. I understand there are longer edits? Coppola's footage was in 16mm, inserted into 35mm. What are the elements you're working with? I'm just curious ....

The surviving 16mm camera original is incomplete. We have the 35mm composite master negative.

We used a family-friendly segment on 3-D RARITIES.

Just saw the SpaceX launch. An amazing sight. So exciting. That rocket ascended fast, faster than any other rocket launch. The boosters detached, fell to earth, sprouted landing gear, and landed upright under controlled fire, to be used again while the rocket continued its journey. It's a milestone never done before. Up until now booster rockets have always crashed into the ocean and only landed in the movies. The whole thing was well-covered by satellite cameras, chopper cameras, mini-digital cameras embedded in the rocket fuselages. The question begs to be asked: why weren't the cameras 3-D? It's so easy to add another eye. But it's a terrific achievement, in any case.

Now back to earth and our regularly scheduled topic ....

The 3-D Nudie-Cutie double-feature will make up for it.

There is a joke to be made here in response to that but my jokes have not been working lately, so ....

Does the first version still exist, before Coppola was brought in to do the 16mm 3-D footage?

I thought we might have gotten William Castle's 3-D trilogy from Columbia by now, perhaps through Twilight Time. Castle knew how to entertain an audience with 3-D, and his films are in really good shape.

I'm pretty sure the original German version exists.

If our release of The Stewardesses doesn't excite you, the 3-D Blu-ray also has the outstanding Experiments in Love short from the venerable Dan Symmes aka Mr. 3-D.

Oh, I have nothing against The Stewardesses itself although it is excruciatingly slow. Condon was a first-rate lensman but he was not the best filmmaker. He got lucky once with The Stewardesses. His daughter, Victoria is a wonderful person whom I used to enjoy visiting with. She was always careful to point out that although she worked on the film she's NOT in it. I enjoyed Christina Hart's personal appearance at the Expo more than the screening, and her daughters who are drop-dead beautiful.

I fell asleep during Experiments in Love at the Expo. It had been a long day of 3-D watching.

I'm sure the bluray is up to your guys' impeccable standards.

And MGM was a help for you on "Gog", and helped trying to find the missing reels for "Southwest Passage". Might those be good signs for "Diamond Wizard"?

The bluray from 3-D Film Archive I seem to be spending the most time with is CEASE FIRE. That you-are-there / newsreel / avant-garde / docudrama approach is right up my alley, and the near perfect 3-D. This is a film that really needs depth to work; I wish there were a hundred more like it.

Bringing that lost gem back to life - both visually and sonically - is one of our proudest achievements.

Robert, is there anyway to keep track of region free Blu-rays from you guys? Maybe a list of 3D films that will work fine in the U.K.? This thread is excellent for 3D but most of you guys are from the U.S and I struggle to keep up with the latest developments. I know I can’t presume that all your titles are region free because The Maze for one is locked to region A I understand?

Would appreciate any feedback.

I can't speak for titles where we are a work-for-hire but on films that we own, the 3-D Blu-ray releases will always be region free.

They are:

Dragonfly Squadron
The Bubble
3-D Rarities
The Mask
September Storm
The Stewardesses

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes, everyone! It sure means a lot to me, this little community we have. I regard each of you as my good friend, though many of us have never met in person.

It is always my pleasure to point out that James Dean and Jack Lemmon were also born on February 8. And I only just learned that John Williams, King Vidor, Audrey Meadows, Lana Turner, and a host of other creative marvels were also born on this date. I am standing in high cotton indeed!
