I haven’t watched GITS yet. I hear the opening sequence is stunning in 3D?

Stunning is the correct description. But really the entire movie is rich in depth and feels very immersive. A must-have for 3D fans

I snapped it up when I got my big batch at Christmas.

Also Wonder Woman, GOTG2, Dr Strange, KK Skull Island and Justice League.

Last bought Blade Runner 2049. Last ones watched Wonder Woman and Terminator 2.

Have 4 on order, Coco, Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle, The Last Jedi, and Thor Ragnarok. Regrettably all have to be ordered from Europe because of the stupid no US release policy of the Studios.

My choice for the best 3D of he last few years is Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.

First time I have watched Jaws 3 for a long time. The 3D was good but the film was awful. Nearly as bad as a Jaws 4.

It depends on how noticeable the disparity can visually be identified..

I replied to you but my post disappeared!

Yeah, it is hokey. The 3D is very good for the most part.

Damn, Paul! You are the king of these type of sentences. I sometimes have to read your comments multiple times to get the full impact of what you’re conveying. Don’t take this the wrong way. You’re comments and sentence structure are impactful, descriptive, and to-the-point.

Watched Ghost in the Shell last night. The 3D takes it to a whole other level. Not the best Sci-fi film, but a fun ride and very nice visuals.

Hi all,

Wow, what an influx of thoughts regarding pop outs and expectations.

When a movie has tremendous depth, it is 3D at its best. But even on those where the depth is lacking, I often find a fair amount of subtle projecting out from beyond the screen that are not in the form of sudden "pop outs". For example, people whose backs are toward the screen, tree branches, etc. The better the 3D is done, the more its there.

But if anyone doubts it, simply take off your glasses. Notice your TV set is further back? Not really. The glasses actually has the screen appearing as if it has been moved closer to the viewer.

So the pop out is always there and that includes forward projection. The problem was with the industry in its advertising over exaggerating only one aspect of the overall 3D effect. They did not emphasize overall depth, just smack in your face special effects "comin' at ya". Remember those drawings of Niagara Falls gushing out at the viewer? The only time that happened was when the Three Stooges took on the role of plumbers and......, well, you can figure out what happened next when people gathered around to see the new miracle of " television " and someone said its as if you're actually there!

Hi 3D people. THis came in the mail today, so I just need the extended edition of battle of the five armies in 3D ( and steelbook because I have the ot her 2 in steelbook) and then I can have a marathon and finally see this trilogy.

Oh I bought this from Amazon UK it was about 15 dollars. I just checked the Amazon Canada site and it is listed at 69.99/ WFT?

Also this one is one thick steelbook, its the thickness of two steelbooks ....

OK my 3D friends, I know these aren't 3D but this is my home forum so don't kill me.
I picked these up at best buy for 5 dollars each , with the exception of the two horror movies.

All the steelbooks and the hunger games was 4.99 each. I was happy to double dip

As your 3D friend, I would really appreciate it if you could restrain yourself to posting about 3D blu rays in this thread.

Back on topic, I just watched the first episode of David Attenborough's Galapagos in 3D - he's a master at what he does and the 3D is natural with mild pop-outs (but nothing too strong, pop-out haters!) and good volume.

Even though I wish the 3D was stronger (particularly underwater) I think it's a real shame he's abandoned 3D on his return to the BBC.

Updated since we now saw the entire Peter Gabriel New Blood concert in 3D.

Damon, get it!

The 3D was excellent, capturing the natural fullness, considering the restraints of a darkened concert hall. Felt we were there. Excellent on stage depth with that 50 piece orchestra. There are occasional glimpses of the audience where the 3D might appear subtle but its dark when scanning and to be honest, not really worth mentioning. No eye strain. Beautiful color and detail.

Performance and audio outstanding. One of my favorites of my collection.
